change trans fluid it is either old and dirty or the wrong type like 75-90 instead of 50 weight or ATF hope this helps

Most likely, the problem is the wiring. Over the years, corrosion builds up in the ground strap and positive lead to the starter (from the battery).

or the battery is old or the the starter is dying get it test at a shop for free.

Sounds to me like you have a weak batt. also if you rear lights are sticking on some times that could drain it
