Security system Bought new battery and after putting it on the alarm started going off and security sytem wont let me start car.

On some models you can disable the alarm after you connect the battery by locking and unlocking the driver door with the key.
I would disconnect the horn or pull the relay until you can get the alarm turned off.

Use you key to lock and unlock the tailgate as the alarm is sounding. The alarm will shut off and vehicle should start.

reset alarm system....then try

put in a new battery and try to start it. if the alarm is going reset it with the fob. if it is a viper alarm you need to call them to get the procedure to reset it ti so you can start it.

dont think a vehicle this old has any security,unless someone has put a sunday mechaic system in and you dont know about it.Ask previous owners if it hads an alarm fitted that they knew about.Now i know it might sound daft but have you left a cable off the battery or starter motor ,that could run to the fuse box or something supplying power to make it run?? wouldnt be the first time evan a professional cowboy like myself has missed sonething stupid

Do you have the key fob? Alot of alarms will go off if you unhook and rehook the battery. All you should have to do is disable the alarm after you unhook the battery. Is this a factory alarm or an aftermarket one?

Hooked new battery up, alarm went off, waited until it stopped, locked car with fob then unlocked and the car started.

I had an aftermarket alarm on a Wrangler and encountered the same problem. With the car off I disconnected the battery, then pulled the fuse(s) for the alarm. I waited to reconnect the battery for about 10 minutes because the computer can hold memory with no power source for a short amount of time. (I did not put the alarm fuses back in.) This disables the alarm, but atleast the Jeep started.
