Honda stuck in drive

My honda accord with an auto tranny is stuck in drive, if I hold it just short of reverse and push hard it will reverse but won't go into reverse or park. the gear shift handle has come off so I think it is an internal gear shifter problem please help?

SOURCE: 94 honda accord hard to shift from park

You seem to have two (2) separate problems one may be a BAD brake light switch this switch is mounted at the top of BRAKE pedal and control the locking mechanism on gear shifter(safety component-for example if a kid is sitting in seat with vehicle running he/she will NOT be able to put vehicle in gear without stepping on brake). The other problem is a BAD shifter cable-this cable moves the selector in the transmission when you move shift knob. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

1998 Honda. Accord has problem shifting all the way into reverse after it had been supposley repaced if I take th seloind out and then put them back in it will go into reverse but when I shut the car off...

did you read the FSM sections?
chapter, on car A/T service, if not why not.?
the solenoid only does with the controller tells it to do.
and the solenoid only gates (valve) hydraulic paths, to the reverse circuits, so that means it can be 3 things.
1: bad command from TCM
2: bad solenoid
3:bad tranny.
if you have a good solenoid and TCM is sending 12v to it
then the tranny is bad. Got a voltmeter? test the voltage to the SOL.

you select rev and the tranny sends 12v to the lamps.
its that simple and is just a switch.

93 Honda Accord drive work fine reverse slip or wont work any solutions...

Reverse is the first to go, You might try to replace the fluid and the filter in the tranny, But will more then likely tell you you need a rebuild your tranny. The bands in the tranny ware out and rev, is usually the first to go. It will get worse, This is not cheep nor is a easy fix. You can find you another tranny at a salvage yard for $300-400 And will cost at least $400 to instal. With no warrenty.Best advise i can give is overhaul. Best of luck to you on it.

96 manual honda accord- problems shifting into reverse

Is the tranny just hard to put into reverse? Check with mechanic and see if you need clutch adjusted. Also try pushing down on the shifter to bypass the safety. Most have to be pushed down from the top of the shifter in order to go in to reverse.
