'87 Cherokee no horn, turn signals, brake lights, wipers, blower

I have a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer. After installing a radio the wipers, turn signals, horn, dash lights and brake lights stopped working. I checked the fuses and all seem to be fine. Any suggestions on what I may need to do to fix this?

    Who replaced the radio?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

sounds like you somehow lost the dash ground.

check all the fuses in my 1988 I find them under dash on driver side and they all have the name to what they go to on the board they go into so that way you know which one is the turn signal and all if not that it may be your break switch like in mine though all my other lights work but the breaks so I assume it is your fuses to other that you may have a wire crossed or grounding out and that would/ or could also do that hope this helped.

Pull the fuses and check the socket for power on the things that don't work. If there is no power at the fuse box there is a good change the stater igintion switch is toast. it is located on top of the steering colunm under the dash.usally less then 20 bucks All that you mentioned get power from this switch that goes to the fuse panel when you turn the key on

No turn signals or dash lights of any kind

Probably a broken wire feeding the dash from the light switch.

Check the fuses, and then look at the fusible links, most likely on the starter,if they are good, replace the ignition switch.

Dash and shifter lights in 1996 jeep cherokee wont light

Hello and welcome to FixYa . Locate the dial that controls the brightness of the dashboardlights. If the control is not immediately evident. Make sure the brightness control is turned on. If it is and the lights aren't working, the problem may be a bad fuse. Check the fuse that controls the dashboard lights Replace the fuse if necessary. If just one part of the instrument panel is not lighting up, then you have either a burned-out bulb or a wiring problem.

1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport Fuse Needed?

Sometimes there are relays under the hood. There is usually a diagram posted underneath the door when you tak it off. The turn signal is usually just a fuse, which may be in your glove box(has a diagram under the door), under the driver or passenger side dash. Do you still have the manual for the vehicle?

1989 Jeep Cherokee - Electrical Problem - horn, brake lights, blinkers, radio/cd...

I think I have found the problem. When I wiggle the ignition switch the turn signals and radio go on and off so I feel the issue is in the ignition switch. From what I understand the actual electronics for the switch are at the base of the sterring column behind the lower dash panel and is connected by a rod that may need adjusting.
