You have a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum reservoir for a leak.

You can spray short bursts of starting fluid on the vacuum lines to find a leak. When engine revs, that's the leak. Be careful.

Vacuum Reservoir Tank and Bracket Removal

  1. NOTE: The A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket (19A566) is located either on or beneath the RH front fender splash shield (16102) .
If the A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket is visible from above in the engine compartment, perform Steps 2 through 4. If the A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket is not visible in the engine compartment, perform Steps 5 through 8.
  1. Remove the screws and the A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket. AC AIR BLOWS BACK AND FORTH FROM DEFROST TO FRONT - 1b32ebf.gif

Need a diagram of the ac hoses and lines for my 2003 ford ranger truck

If I remember correctly, your truck has a combination of vacuum and electric actuators in the air box. The temperature control comes from electric motors and the sector is vacuum controlled. I would look for a disconnected or broken vacuum hose that supplies vacuum to the air box

My 2003 ford ranger truck only blows ac out of defrost vents.

It could be a vent vacuum solenoid or a vacuum problem, the selector switch is vacuum run and depending on its position put a vacuum on a different solenoid

Air flow issue- intermittently blows from wrong vents

This is a common problem on this site.
In your case I would look for a vac leak or a sticky blend door.
Since the direction of air flow changes when you are accelerating, I'm going to guess the blend door or doors are controlled by engine vacuum. There may be a vac leak between the dash and the engine, or the blend door may not be able to move back and forth correctly.
Defrost is the default position when a problem occurs, to make sure the windshield is clear of fog or frost.

Air blowing out floor and defrost vents but not not front vents

Sounds like a blend door problem. The vacuum from the engine opens and closes the door that directs air flow thru the vents.
I would guess the door is stuck in the middle of the range or something is blocking it.
The blend door(s) is behind the glove box.

The ac on my 1998 ford ranger only blows out the defrost vent and floor vent. How do I fix it?

Almost sounds like the actuators are inop. depending on which style you have, some are electrical motors and some are vacuum. These control the mode doors which move to deflect air to various vents.

I HAVE A 2005 FORD EXPEDITON AND THE AIR WILL NOT BLOW OUT OF THE FRONT VENTS/IT BLOWS OUT OF THE BACK VENTS AND THE DEFROST. ALSO I HAVE THIS THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BACK PANEL INSIDE THE CAR...

I had the AC problem too, and they said there was a hole in the hose. They fixed it and now it comes out of the vents as it suppose too, but when I first accelerate to go up a hill, it stops blowing out of the dash vents. Once I have stopped going up the hill, the air starts blowing out again. Weird.
