SOURCE: 1998 nissan altima gxe -ignition problem

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

My anti-theft system came on and my key wouldn't come out but it would start and my windows don't roll down and my sunroof doesn't open does that have to do with the anti-theft system

When the anti-theft system in your car is activated, it is designed to prevent unauthorized access to the vehicle and protect it from theft. The specific features and functions affected by the activation of the anti-theft system can vary depending on the make and model of your car. However, here are some common ways in which the anti-theft system can impact your vehicle:

  1. Ignition Interlock: In many vehicles, the anti-theft system can prevent the engine from starting or cut off power to the ignition system. This is often the primary function of the anti-theft system to deter thieves from driving the vehicle.
  2. Key Removal: Some anti-theft systems can also lock the key in the ignition switch, making it difficult or impossible to remove the key when the system is activated.
  3. Door Locks: The anti-theft system may lock or unlock the doors automatically when it is activated. This can be intended to prevent unauthorized entry.
  4. Windows and Sunroof: In some cases, the anti-theft system can disable the power windows and sunroof to prevent someone from gaining access to the interior through these openings.
  5. Alarm Activation: If your vehicle is equipped with a security alarm system as part of the anti-theft system, it may activate the alarm if unauthorized entry is detected or if someone tries to tamper with the vehicle.
  6. Vehicle Immobilization: Some advanced anti-theft systems can immobilize the vehicle by cutting off fuel or electrical power to the engine.
If you're experiencing issues with your key not coming out, windows not rolling down, and the sunroof not opening, it's possible that these problems are related to the activation or malfunction of the anti-theft system. However, it's essential to consult your vehicle's owner's manual or contact the manufacturer or a qualified automotive technician for specific information about how your vehicle's anti-theft system operates and to diagnose and resolve the issues you're facing.

In many cases, anti-theft system problems may require specialized equipment and knowledge to diagnose and repair, so seeking professional assistance is often the best course of action.

2008 Nissan pathfinder immobilizer tripped and driver side door lock is set up how do I reset the anti theft system

OK immo RULES 101

  1. IT CAN NOT BE HACKED.! (design goal A#1)!
  2. The car came new with 2 keys, are both dead. or lost it.?
  3. immo ends theft OF CAR, see rule 1 , zero hacking'
  4. the lamp on the dash by any name means 3 things bad key , bad immo or all is good. the glove box guide tells you for sure how that IMMO lamp works, lost the book ?, will in uSA it is free, at all dealers and online (by laws, safety here)
  5. some FOBs have a tiny battery , non passive keys to start. so check for that
  6. never have both keys inside car same time for sure passive key or they both try to win the ACCESS.
  7. if all keys fail (good before) scan the PCm and it sure will tell you why it fails, (bad key , or iMMO modules 1, or 2 failing, etc.
passive keys /fobs , the battery only opens doors.
passive , keys for the engine , the key lock ignition is RFID type design. this means batter in key is for stating the engine'
Nissan Anti-Theft System = nATs
NATS is a transponder passive system, no battery needed in key.
these parts are all married, that means only scans find the truth.

My nissan micra fault code p1613

P1613 = NATS Malfunction.
This is a problem with your Anti-Theft system.
Try this reset method. You will need to turn the ignition key to the second position but don't start the engine, (Ignition ON).
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position for 5 seconds then turn it all the way OFF.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position again for 5 seconds then turn it all the way OFF again.
3. Turn the ignition key to the ON position again for a 3rd time for 5 seconds, then turn it all the way OFF again.
This should reset the Anti theft system. If it does Not reset you will need to get an Auto Electrician to look at your vehicle. He will have the tools to find out exactly where the fault is.

I had removed the battery from my 2009 Nissan versa reinstalled it now when I turn the key over it will not crank at all everything else seems to work I think it is the anti-theft system how do I reset it

If locking (using the plip) and unlocking after waiting 15/20 minutes doesn't work you can try disconnecting the battery again, leaving it several hours and then opening the door and switching on the ignition and finally reconnecting the battery.

If that doesn't work I suggest you take advice from the dealer or try an internet search.

Replaced sterring colum now it wont start

S (Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System-NATS) has the following immobilizer functions: Since only NVIS (NATS) ignition keys, whose ID nos. have been registered into the ECM and IMMU of NVIS (NATS), allow the engine to run, operation of a stolen vehicle without a NVIS (NATS) registered key is prevented by NVIS (NATS). That is to say, NVIS (NATS) will immobilize the engine if someone tries to start it without the registered key of NVIS (NATS). All of the originally supplied ignition key IDs have been NVIS (NATS) registered. If requested by the vehicle owner, a maximum of five key IDs can be registered into the NVIS (NATS) components. The security indicator lamp blinks when the ignition switch is in "OFF" or "ACC" position. Therefore, NVIS (NATS) warns outsiders that the vehicle is equipped with the system. When NVIS (NATS) detects trouble, the security indicator lamp lights up while ignition key is in the "ON" position. NVIS (NATS) trouble diagnoses, system initialization and additional registration for other NVIS (NATS) ignition key IDs must be carried out using CONSULT-II hardware and CONSULT-II NVIS (NATS) software. Regarding the procedures for NVIS (NATS) initialization and NVIS (NATS) ignition key ID registration, refer to CONSULT-II OPERATION MANUAL IVIS/NVIS. When servicing a malfunction of the NVIS (indicated by lighting up of Security Indicator Lamp) or registering another NVIS ignition key ID no., it is necessary to re-register original key identification. Therefore, be sure to receive ALL KEYS from vehicle owner. System Composition NIEL0174 The immobilizer function of the NVIS (NATS) consists of the following: NVIS (NATS) ignition key NVIS (NATS) immobilizer control unit (IMMU) located in the ignition key cylinder ECM Security indicator lamp.

What is (P1612 code) vehicle immobilizer means?

An immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key is present. This prevents the car from being hot wired after entry has been achieved.
The microcircuit inside the key is activated by a small electromagnetic field which induces current to flow inside the key body, which in turn broadcasts a unique binary code which is read by the automobile's Engine Control Module (ECM). When the ECM determines that the coded key is both current and valid, the ECM activates the fuel-injection sequence.
The immobilizer function of the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System (NVIS) or Nissan Anti-Theft System (NATS) consists of the following:
- NATS ignition key
- NATS antenna amp. located in the ignition key cylinder
- Body control module (BCM) or (IMMU)
- Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Security indicator lamp

My 91 300zx brights keep flashing on and off making a weird clicking noise and the engine wont even try to turn over

anti-theft system is engaging. If this is the problem try this: Place key in ignition , make sure all doors are closed, unlock the locks (via lock switch) from driver side. If this doesnt work, try the same method with ignition @ ON. Hopefully this helps
