Closed hood, latch cable not working

I removed front cross member of car under hood while fitting new light bulb. Cables not put back in right place on when re-assembled. Release not working when I try to open hood now. Can I get it open through the front grill, or after removing grill?

SOURCE: hood latch won't release

This has happened to me several times, this will take two people, but all you need to do is have one person pull the hood release, while person number 2 pushes down on the hood, and then pulls up...that ought to do the trick

SOURCE: Hood release under the dash has no tension on it. Hood will not latch closed

The latch is stuck in the open position. I always found white lithium grease worked best on those latches but any good lubricant will work. Try moving the latch manually with a screwdriver. After applying the lubricant move the latch a few times. You should see the tension return to the release, if it doesn't you have a broken release cable.

Removing a transmission 2006 impala 6 cylinder 3.5L

Hi there.
If your car is a Rear wheel drive then its rather easy.
Jack up the car and put it on stands all at the same height, drain the g/box oil from the trans/box and fit a trolley jack under the g/box and another one under the engine sump, remove remove all parts as required under the bonnet such as top hose any hoses pipes cables and battery term (neg) g/b/cross member, tail shaft, starter motor, all bell housing bolts and linkage speedo cable and wires, there should be a metal plateon bottom 1/2 of housing and can be removed if not then there should be able to get at the convertor bolts 4 or 6 from the starter motor hole and undo them NOW with everything removed 2 people can either try to lift out the gearbox OR a trolley jack in place of the rear jack and lower them both down untill you can slide the box out with the covertor as well ///refit new box with convertor fitted to g/box before fitting to engine.
Its a big job so get it right first time as its heavy and can KILL SOME ONE.

How to change a headlamp in a mercedes benz c280

When changing a headlamp in a mercedes benz c280 1995. Lift the hood latch on the inside of the car. This is located under the driver side of the car. Release the hoodlatch in the front. Open the hood and behind the headlamp (left or right), Remove the two clamps that hold the back cover onto the light. After this cover is removed, behind the headlight there is a wire behind the light that hold the light in. Squeeze the two wires together and pull them back. This will release the light. Remove the light from the socket. Place the new bulb in the socket. Remember not to touch the bulb with your fingers, this could cause the bulb to break if it gets the oil from your fingers onto the bulb. Once the bulb is replaced, put the wire back in place and replace the back cover of the light.

My hood latch cable broke, how can I get under my hood

Gentlemen-
Remove the turn signal from the Drivers Side and push a long screwdriver into the spot until you trigger the latch, this is a tedious chore at best but sooner or later you will trip the latch and the hood will open, then pull the cross over cable and unlatch the hood. Please replace the opening cables, both of them and build an EMERGENCY HOOD CABLE and run it down until you can reach it from the outside, under the car. GOOD LUCK!!!!

How to remove,replace,front right headlight, 200' rav-4 ?

Headlight bulbs are easily replaced. At the back of the headlight assembly, under the hood, find the electrical connector and turn it counterclockwise a quarter turn, then pull out the connector and attached bulb. Remove the old bulb, and replace with your new bulb. Do not touch the glass part of bulb with your hands or fingertips- it will shorten bulb life. Put the new bulb back into place and turn it clockwise to secure it..

Cobalt 2005 ls headlight bulb replacement

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb
  • Wrench
  • Gloves or clean rag
  1. Step 1 Set the parking brake and remove the keys from the ignition to ensure your Chevy Cobalt won't roll while you're replacing the headlight bulb.
  2. Step 2 Open the hood by pulling the hood release latch located under the instrument panel on the driver's side of the car. Locate the secondary release latch on the front of the hood at the center, slightly towards the driver's side. Slide the latch to the left to release the hood and raise it.
  3. Step 3 Locate the headlight assembly and remove the bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Set the bolts aside in a safe place, so you won't misplace them.
  4. Step 4 Remove the plastic fasteners from the headlight assembly molding. Carefully pull back the front fascia, or molding. You may need an extra pair of hands to perform this slightly awkward task.
  5. Step 5 Grab the headlight assembly and pull it towards the radiator at a slight angle to remove it. This should provide easier access to the headlight bulb and wiring harness.
  6. Step 6 Lift the plastic locking tab on the wiring harness to disconnect the bulb base. Then, disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb socket and remove the black retainer by turning it counterclockwise.
  7. Step 7 Disconnect the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the old bulb from the socket by firmly, but gently pulling it straight out.
  8. Step 8 Replace the old bulb with a new 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb. Put your headlight assembly back together by reversing the steps when you disassembled it. Use 89 inch-lb torque when retightening the headlight assembly

Where is horn located under hood

the horn is most likely located under the front cross member/radiator support in front of the radiator where the hood latch is mounted.

Fog lights do not work on a 1999 9-3 SAAB. no blown fuses and not power at fog light connector, looking for a schematic.

I had same problem in my 1995 saab900,
the fog light contains a bulb and two cables (ground and hot).
the ground cable connects to the bulb base by a connector, this connector collects salt because of the high current and humidity I guess, which made inconductive.
Just cutting the connector and solder the cable directly to the bulb base solved the problem.

the schema is like that:
1- foglight switch give low current to a relay under the hood.
in the same time the switch will get current from the normal ligth so it wont work untill you put the lights on.
2- the current goes from to the relay makes the relay connects the fuse current (from battery via fuse) to the ligts directly.
so the connection is straight forward.

the components involved are:
1- fog light switch.
2- fuse inside the car on the left side of the stearing wheel.
3- fuse under the hood to the top right side of the engine if you look at it from the car front.
4- in the same fuse box under the hood there is a samll relay.
5- cables takes the current from the relay to the foglights.
6- the fog lights have a connection at the back, and connection inside.

make sure you measure each points with a multimeter and in doubt make temporary cables like ground directly to the battery to make sure you don't miss anything.
good luck and email me if you still have problem
