Most common cause is a air leak into the fuel system at the filter bleed valve.

SOURCE: Why won't my 1992 Ford Econoline van start

I suspect the fuel pump has stopped working, check the fuel pressure or listen to the noise it makes by taking off the gas cap and listening for a humming noise when the key is turned on, this will stop after a few seconds.

SOURCE: 1.8L engine- check engine light comes on, runs rough & hesitates

I have a 93 escort and it lost power every once in a while and ran rough at other times. The solution was to replace the oxygen sensor. It has run excellant for the last 45,000 miles now.

There are two things to check relative to the fuel system first locate and press the reset button on the inertia switch this switch disables the fuel pump but usually only deactivates the fuel pump if the vehicle has gone over a curb been jacked up really high or some type of traumatic vibration or bump has occured. The other thing to look at is the fuel pressure regulator, it is located somewhere on the top of the motor at the end of the fuel rail if you see that ti is wet with gas it should be replaced the last thing to do is to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail it should be a minimun of 30 psi of fuel pressure. One more thing ensure that the fuses are good and all the connections to the pump are ok and not dirty or damaged and the pump's plug has power to it when the key is in the on position.

Got a 1994 buick park avenue that will not stay running and has been sitting for a year with a half tank of gas. What could be the problem?

It sounds like the gas just got bad from sitting. The best thing to do is to remove all the gas and put in fresh. You could try putting in a gas treatment for stale gas and some fuel injection cleaner with some fresh gas. It will take a while but will eventually work. You just have to stay in the car and hold your foot on the pedal to keep the rpms up. Good Luck

How do i drain the fuel tank on 2001 mazda mpv

Why was this suggested? Did water get in it or another substance? If it's just been sitting in a safe place and it runs fine u should be ok. Go get some gas treatment and put it in there.

Acts like its choking out when i sit and idle for a littlebit

it maybe a vacuum line so check all of those to make sure one is not loose or off and put some STP gas treatment in the fuel tank make sure it has at least a half a tank of gas and if the STP helps then replace your fuel filter
