1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee gas gauge reads empty but tank is full.

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee that the gas gauge reads empty but tank is full. It just stopped working on me last night. I witnessed the gauge jump up and down between empty and full then the needle just stopped in the empty position. I am hoping it is something simple like a fuse, but i dont know where to even start the trouble shooting.

If my gas gauge doesnt work can it just be a fuse

Doubt it.
The same fuse for the gauge would handle the rest of the cluster.
Probably the sending unit in the tank.

I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee Jeep Truck I just purchased and the gas gauge is not working it's on empty even when fill it up!

Check the Fuel Sending Unit in the fuel pump. Disconnect the wire to the sending unit, at the tank, and ground it to the car frame. Turn the key to on and see if the fuel gauge goes to Full. If it does the gauge and wire are good and the problem is in the sending unit. If it's still on E the gauge is bad or the wire is open.

Full tank-fuel gague registers empty-need fuel light is on

There is a sending unit in the fuel tank that registers how much fuel there is. It is probably broken, giving you a funny reading on your gauge.
