Theift light is on and wont start for 10 min

I turn key on, pull up on emergancy break and wait for 10 minutes.
it will start, but, it happens often. i need it reset for good or unhooked.
i realy dont need a theift system.

2002 taurus wouldn't turn over. waited 10 minutes and started great. happened twice again now wont take a jump

how do I bypass or reset
with out taking battery cables off

When it does it again,,,You are doing things right, BUT... dont do anything electrical (push brakes,open door,blow horn,set emerg brake...nothing...just try to start car,when it dont start, leave key on 20 mins or so,turn key off for 30 sec. then start the car. Just to be sure that its not flooding itself,while its running,disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator,(holding your finger on the vacuum line)so to see if fuel is getting past the diaphram and getting sucked into the intake manifold. After you verify the regulator is not leaking connect the vacuum line back.

Just unhook your battery cables for about 2 minutes......this should reset it....

Try this,disconnect battery,wait 10 minutes,reconnect,alarm will go of,hit button on remote to stop,that's how I reset my 2004 Lincoln LS.

Is the theft light on the dash lit ? If so turn the key onto the run position till the theft light goes out, about 10min. Turn key off for a few min. then start , hope that helps. If not have to have it checked for codes in the (BCM) body control module or the (PCM) powertrain control module !

This van has the anti-theift component.....we go to town to the store lock it, go shopping we we re-enter the van it wont start a mechanic said it was the main computer gone bad what do you say?

i say the antitheft system probably was triggered when that happens it either wont let the vehicle start at all or it"ll start bt only run for 2 seconds try putting the key in and turning it to on and leaving it for ten to fifteen min if that dont work try reseting the computer by leaving the key in the ignition in the on position and first unhooking the neg battery cable then the pos cable then hold down breaks or horn to drain remaining charge all vehicles store even after battery is unhooked and leaving it for 15 to 20 min then take the key out and hook the battery back up and try an start it

im just gonna take a stab in the dark here i understand that your security light is on try unlocking your door with your key sometimes you just need to reset the security. otherwise ive seen a security module go bad that may be preventing you from starting it.

98 chevy cavalier cranks but wont start changed fuel pump,computer,crank shaft position sensor and the theft system light is staying on

try to start the car, than the anti theift would shut the car off. you wait ten min with the key on, until you see the anti theift flash or disapear. than turn key to off position and try to start it. this will reprogram the computer.. Good luck.

you can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes

Dont know how to reset or bypass gm theft system car is not starting .It tries and quits.

this is one way to reset it :
first make sure the battery is fully charged , then do the following:
key in the ignition but do not crank the motor, just leave it at the
ignition mode for ten minutes ,then turn it off POSITION for 5 seconds then REPEAT again 2 more times. at the 3 rd time youre gonna notice the ANTI THEFT light on dash to blink. when doing the last step , remove key , inserted again and turn on motor , good luck , AJ

Car wont start

Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys

If the light has not stop blinking when you wait ten minutes then it is not going to crank. My does it a lot but after 10 minutes the light has stopped blinking. I think that the ignition switch needs replacing or maybe just the key is worn out. I think when anybody goes to fix this GM problem it is a guessing game.
