D4 blinking shifting gear won't work. What will I do.

experienced the same light illumination. Shifted to neutral, or any other gear, and light still kept blinking. Pulled off the road and turned off the engine. Restarted engine, blinking light was gone. Didn't reappear as I drove on to the destination. Checked the display at lunch, no blinking light present. Also checked the transmission fluid level, no problems there. It sounds like it may be another one of Honda's infamous phantom faults that they want to charge about a hundred bucks to say they don't know why, and that they reset all the codes so it shouldn't be a problem, Perhaps they believe they should get a hundred dollars from every Honda owner periodically, so they just program the codes to come on randomly, and not show up in the history, so nobody else can find them. Yes, I am more than somewhat skeptical of the major auto industry these days, this isn't the first instance of phantom codes, but they still charge you for their poor design and poor information. If they really cared about owners, they would leave some of the usless info out of the owners guide and put in a table of all the codes and light illuminations, with the radio or dash readout connected so the codes could be displayed for the owner. Then we would know if it is a critical thing, or simply a friendly reminder that an oil change is needed, or something of that sort. Why all the mistery? A HUNDRED BUCKS, OF COURSE!!!!!!

Code reader reads 1283 manufacturer control

must be an OBD2 car, p1283 (your reader or autozoned readers)
P0 is USA federal standard codes.
P1 are factory (this car, this makers ) private codes.
what engine, never post , with no engine options,
if you dont kown what you are driving, then do a vin search on line
or post vin, or look under hood of car (USA) look up, see white sticker
there, it does show what engine is in the car.

2.4L or 3.7L engines. or diesel.

my online source, shows no 1283 only 1281,
but no engine stated. if diesel it has its own set of jeep codes, very unique.

first find out what you are driving.
the FSM explaines, the P0, P1 and P2 code reasons.

My 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 is idling at 800 rpm's, and my service engine soon light came on. The code read for a Chrysler? P1283, and Fuel pump module detected an incorrect low idle, low idle select...

Make sure you are looking up the code properly. 1283 for Nissan indicates a lean condition on bank 2. See link below. A vacuum leak is likely, but make sure the new sensor is recalibrated. Did you perform the relearn procedure after replacing the sensor? If not, see the second link below. If you ran the relearn procedure and cleared all codes but 1283 comes back, look for a loose vacuum line or leaky intake manifold gaskets. Car has little power, burning an extreme amount of gas, makes rumbling noise, and engine light is on. I have had new spark plugs and an enginge coil put on it and it is still doing the same thing.

if check engine light is on, get it scanned to find problem code. if no scanner most auto parts stores will scan for free. just get the codes from them to see what is wrong! you can start at airfilter and continue to throttle body to see if all is ok. there are a few causes for this, so have it scanned if light stays on.for instance- a maf sensor causes poor running, it will set a code or check engine light will come on, lack of power, buck/****, hesitation/stumble on acceleration, a bad cam sensor will throw off spark timing which will impact fuel econony. and cause engine to misfire and poor acceleration. this code will also set check engine light on. so get it scanned to find problem code. have a good day !

Engine chugging, like there is no gas but there is and a sulphar smell

the convertor is the problem.will cause decreased engine power, another sign is bucking and jerking upon accelerating. the car will lose power when going up a hill. if engine runs hotter then usual and coolant is up to par, may be a bad converter.

The car wont excelerate and i know all is fine with everything except a sensor and i knowits not the o2 sensor whats the other one called?

If you have a bad sensor, it should store a trouble code in the onboard diagnostic computer. Have it scanned for codes to narrow the problem down. There is no point to guessing. if no scanner then most auto parts store will scan for free. advanced auto, auto zone, etc. check to be sure fuel filter is not plugging up. maf sensor symtoms, poor running, stalling, check engine light should be on. lack of power, spark knock/detonation, buck/****, hesitation on acceleration, also hard shifts. check fuel filter first !! if you need more info. just let me know.

Poor accelaration

Is the check engine light on? Could be a number of reasons, from a dirty air filter to a bad o2 sensor causing poor fuel mix. Could also be a poisoned or clogged catalytic converter if you've been running on a bad gas mix. The longer this problem is left alone, the more damage it will cause, and these cars are very expensive to buy parts for. Any time you see a check engine light get it checked right away, autozone will do it for free, or you can buy a tester yourself for 100 bucks. It will tell you if the catalyst is bad, if the o2 sensor is bad, and various other key problems that could be the cause of your poor engine power. Good Luck.
