2002 hyundai santa fe rear brakes creaking / scraping

After heavy braking a few times the rear brakes emit a LOUD scraping noise & pulses. No noise or pulsing is heard before heavy braking. After heavy braking a few times, this noise is heard if the brakes are feathered or applied firmly. I looked at the caliper and it looks like there is a ridge (high spot) near the parking brake hub that has some shiny spots on it. IF this is what the scraping noise is from, why only after heavy braking?

I also need a rear wheel bearing - could this have anything to do with it?

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas?

(not too crazy about the santa fe by the way!)...

Loud rear whine, not brakes new ones fitted

Was noise there prior to brake replacement? If so, possible wheel bearing noise. Noise should get louder the faster the wheel rotates with a bearing problem.

Juddering and noise on front wheels when braking

The disks may be warped, which will cause a vibration under braking.
Also if it's an ABS system, the vibration is normal but only under heavy braking, and should not continue to vibrate when working properly.

Creeking Noise in Rear when brakes applied

I had a similar problem......there was a rhythmic creaking noise coming from the passendger side rear wheel......I lubricated the contact points where the parking brake mechanism contacts the wheel and the noise is now gone...and has been for several months now.
