Car is in garage just had mot and they fixed suspension arm got call to say your car is ready to pick up go down there and it will not start and stuck in gear was fine when dropped it off mercaniks looking at it now they better not charge for this

I am pretty sure I just figured this out after a very very long night.

While sitting in the car, lock the door with your fob, and start the car. Could it be that easy?

It can be the battery ,, yes the battery is down and car won't start because of that , shifter can be moved by inserting pin inside the hall (beside the shifter). if you have more details about your problem ,please post it here , this might help to solve your car problem

SOURCE: The manual gear shift will not move to reverse it

Some times you could get them out of park by pounding on the top of the shifter while moving it out of park at the same time. You need a new shifter assembly. If it won't come out of park, they can drag it onto a flatbed.

SOURCE: Transmission wont shift out of park

Try checking the brake light sending unit. Are your brake lights even working. Many newer vehincles will not shift out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed. However, a faulty sendind unit located on the pedal itself can keep you from moving anywhere. Just check to see if your brake lights are working to know if the sending unit is working.

SOURCE: 1995 Mercedes S 320 won't start. battery is fine

I know on the L.H. (previous fuel injection system) models there was a module called a base module that worked as a big overvoltage relay and powered up all the control units for the engine and drivetrain,they had 4 to 6 10amp. fuses in the top and theywould blow fuses and sometimes fail themselves causing no start conditions. I beleive yours is an H.F.M. system. I used to do roadside and i'm also a mercedes benz tech. The first thing I would try would be to put the car in nuetral and see if it starts. the nuetral safety switches of that era are problomatic. next I would check my brake light fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. That fuse also powers the starter relay-even though it doesn't state that on the fuse schematic. Also to answer your question about a lockout relay-yes there is but they rarely cause a problem. is check engine light on or visit workshop displayed on cluster while engine is running. If so there is a electrical malfunction-although if the linkage is disconnected from the trans to the throttle the gear recognition switch would send an implausible signal and set a code. this code is not a priority code and may not set the light right away. A lot of times one of the linkage rod retaining clips falls off. Look under the car and you will see a rod that attaches to the shifter box arm and to the transmission neutral safety switch(manual valve) arm. It may actually be resting on the ground. If not look and make sure it is secure. Next there is a slot on the shifter wood where you can put a flat blade screw driver in and release the manual shifter lock. Your owners manual will describe how to do this. Depending on what failed the vehicle may be in what is called limo home mode where the trans does not shift out of second gear and the throttle is not very responsive. It will give you the opportunity to move the car to a safe location possibly even a repair shop. The shifter boxes are are a sealed unit with no replaceable parts. They are slightly expensive and require an s.d.s. machine to replace because they must be programmed and version coded. I hope I have been helpful

Have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid. I can't get the shifter on the column to move out of park even when I move the steering wheel up,down & side to side. Is it the cable, the link, what?

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

Its a gear shift issue.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Shifting when driving

The shifter needs to be inspected.If the gears are shifted automatically.The shifter assembly is got misaligned,it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this auto shifting occurred then its shifter assembly realign issue.
