THE CRANK SENSOR IS ON THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING.
SOURCE: seeking location of speed sensor 2001 sentra
Vehicle Speed Sensor is IN the Transaxle-is your ecu indicating VSS circuit is open? Check out Nissan Forums.com If so, most likely, the sensor is bad or unplugged.Circuit includes sensor, wiring from sensor to the ecu,and the ecu itself.
SOURCE: where is speed sensor located
The speed sensor is usually the speedo drive head that fits onto the top and rear of the gearbox. It usually is secured by a 10mm bolt.and slides out(round). It is fitted to a multi wired plug.Although if it is the CVT trans things are a little different. These trans have a fault of sticking in low when hot(usually after stop/start traffic).Let me know if it is this fault.
I hope this helps you.
SOURCE: I need to change out the thermostat on 1997 Nissan Sentra.
The thermostat is located near the back left of the engine if you are looking in with your hood open. It is inconveniently located next to several other hoses and wires. Your best bet is a racheting screwdriver with a 10mm socket. It is accessible from the top side. If you replace the thermostat and you experience over heating, it is most likely just air trapped in the housing. Run your car and warm it up, let it cool down, open radiator cap and add coolant. Repeat a few times and that should purge the air.
