1999 isuzu rodeo with 2.2 4 cyl sat for 2-3 months in freezing temps and wont start now. The battery is charged, the fuel pump is working fine and the fuel rail has pressure. I changed the plugs and wires and checked that they all get spark when the starter cranks. it still wont start. Has anyone had this problem? If so please help me figure out what Im missing. Thank you.

Have you tried replacing the starter? I know starters can go bad if the car is not started or run for a long time.

I am getting the same car, with the same issue.. it sat for 2 yrs and won't start.

My mechanic told me it is probably a starter.

SOURCE: wont start

well if it dies after 15 20 min, then ide check your alternator cause that's what recharges the battery. just pull it out bring it to checker or auto zone or advanced wherever you go and they can tell you if it bad or not

If the data link is not talking to the computer check your ground at the computer and at the data link connector to see if the computer is even alive ground pin 3 on DLC with the key off then turn key to the run position if it flashes the check engine codes record them, if no engine light, does the engine light come on when you turn the key on then go off? if not, check fuses if not check power for pin on computer, if it has power you have a bad computer. But TEST THE GROUNDS IT IS THE BIGGEST FAILURE For these rigs or any manufacture. check that you have power also at the DLC too. if not you need a digital ohm meter and a subscription to http:///.www.alldatadiy.com and start reading the campaigns on that vechile for computer and trouble tree for dead DLC and computer. I don't have that subscription or I could tell you more where to look, if you need anymore help let me know. Also if the crank sensor could cause it not to run the fuel pump but so can the cam sensor. You need to find out if the computer gets it's pulse for the pump at the computer if it does then you need to test them both. There are three wires a ground a colored power wire and a wire to go to the computer you can test these sensors with a meter to see if there is a pulse to each. sometimes the fuel pump gets it's signal from the coil pack so it's important to have the subscription, you can do a search for each item and test them as needed and has a wiring diagram.

Isuzu rodeo fuel cut off switch location

The 1999 Isuzu Rodeo does not come with a fuel Inertia cut off switch. In case of an accident, the oil pressure switch comes into play i.e. if the engine shuts off and starts leaking oil. The oil pressure switch also cuts off the fuel pump power.

Fuel pump in my 97 rodeo works if i wire it to the battery, but does not work when i plug it in where it belongs.I've checked the fuses and they all look fine.

Same thing happened to me on my 1996 isuzu rodeo. My fuel pump worked part of the time. I actually bought a new one, then tested the old one when I removed it. Like you, I hard-wired it to the battery. It turned out to still be good.

It turned out to be a bad ground connection from the fuel pump. You can check it by --- 1) hooking the fuel pump back up where it belongs, 2) splicing a wire from the ground wire coming from the fuel pump and 3) grounding the wire (loosen a bolt head on the undercarriage, stick the stripped wire tip between a bolthead and undercarriage surface, then rachet the bolt head back tight. Then 4) just turn the ingnition key and see if the fuel pump engages and the engine starts.

Good luck!

1999 blazer wont start??

Your battery is either faulty or ther is a parasitic drain, have it checked out at parts house. With a good battery installed, spray some starter fluid into intake housing. If it starts, then dies, you have fuel pressure/delivery problems. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the key? Hope this helps.
