Bad coil will produce a check eng code . If it said po4003 it will 3 coil that is bad if it saids po4001 it is coil pack 1 and so on it will show a code on a misfire with a bad coil. Most like no 1 cylinder coil was bad you kept driving and damaged the cat

SOURCE: 2003 Lincoln LS check engine light

I had the same problem with a 2004 LS. I took it to the dealer and turned out that 6 ignition coils were out and was factory defect. Ford extended the warranty for the ignition coil. All work and parts "no charge" this service was done about a month ago

SOURCE: 2004 Lincoln navigator misfire on cylinder 8 error code p318

Replace the coil pack once more. I went through 2 new ones on my f150 on one cylinder. One worked, the other didn't (both new off the shelf). Condensation build up in the boot caused mine to misfire. Anytime you replace a coil pack, squirt a little silicone grease inside. This will prevent condensation from hitting your plug. Fords are notorius for this problem, especially if you live in a humid area. Also, make sure and clear the codes after you make the repair.

SOURCE: 02 navigator misfire #7 cyl still after i changed plugs and coil

You've tried everything but getting the timing checked out. You've done all the other parts of a tune-up but that.

When you changed the spark plugs did you notice #7 was especially dirty or greasy, this could point to a seal being broken or a piston ring that needs replacing.

I have a 2003 Nav with the exact same problem. I've found it diminishes when taken out of overdrive. Also it's intermittent but more towards bucking. Sorry to post this under solutions.

Stuck in park while truck is still running 1998 Lincoln Navigator

Are your brake lights working?
If not, replace the fuse. Still not working? Replace the brake light switch. (Your brake light switch also releases the lock for the gear shift).
If your brake lights are working, are you hearing a soft "click" at the gear shift when you depress the brake? If not, check the lock solenoid at the gear shift lever.
There is also a slight possibility that your park pin is jammed. If you're parked on a hill, it's likely. Have someone push the car back and forth as you try to take it out of park... JUST DON'T RUN THEM OVER. :)

When i floor my 01 navigator it wont go it makes a popping sound in the throttle body

sounds like the cats are plugged up....remove the o2 sensors and see if it runs better. Mine would idle, but would pop and stumble when the gas was hit. Ran well for a long time but would stumble whwn floored, slowly got so bad couldnt drive it but it idled fine. Pulled the o2 sensors and started it up and all kinds of debris, junk, blew out. Replaced cats and o2 sensors and runs great. cost $2000.00 in parts. If you find that this is your problem, then check to see if the cats came apart and blew chunks into the muffler,,,,can cause a restriction and cook the new cats. Took me a lot of time to get this truck running right, but it sounds like youre dealing with the same issues..I went through the coil packs and chased engine codes for a week. Pull the o2 sensors and see what blows out; and if engine runs better.....hope this helps (spend some time pricing o2 sensors and y pipe with cars...you can save some $. good luck!

My 2003 lincoln navigator

A safety feature on your car is that it will not shift out of "park" if you are not applying the brakes . Make sure your doing that while trying to shift out of park .
