2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL over heated. I broke down a couple months ago from bearings in AC compressor going bad. The mechanic somehow fixed it with keeping same compressor in but ever since he fixed it, there's no heat. Sometimes it will blow warm air but then stops soon after and blows cold air. Have also noticed temp rises to over half when we start it and let it warm up for about 30 min. Today I let it warm up even longer hoping to have some heat, but when I got in to leave, temp gauge was all the way up and over heating. Not sure if it's just a coincidence but never had any of these problems until the mechanic somehow fixed the old AC compressor.
Have a pressure test done on your cooling system, you sound like you could have a leak in your system or your system just needs to have the air bled from it. Check your coolant level also, with air in the system and not enough coolant it will blow cold and cause overheating.

Hello: The air mix door/temp door actuator has stripped gears and the force of the air by the blower motor is pushing the door to the Air Conditioning position. If you will remove the glove box and the panel under the dash and start the car and duplicate the condition you described you will see the action. you will need to replace the actuator. If you have passenger temp control then you will have two actuators, the one on the bottom for driver and the one on top for passenger.

Hi,
This is a problem with the heat exchange valve which will need to be replaced, this switches the hot water flow on and off.
Thanks
