SOURCE: 1997 ford f-150 stalls if i sit or idle
Hello;
First we need to ascertain the problem. When the vehicle stalls, does it start up immediately? Does it blow smoke out the exhaust on restart? Before it stalls, does it chug and sputter or act like you turned the key off? ALso, which engine and transmission have yoou in this truck?
Thanks;

check the fuel regulator,while running unplug the red vacumn hose and if gas squirts out the hole,then it is bad,if not then possibly plugged catalytic converters,drive it on the highway if you can, and stop and look underneath at it and if it looks red,then replace them.Check to see if its overheating,usually a really hot hood tells the story.

Check for a bad temperature sensor. If there is any code, read it with a scanner, and it will usually tell you what is going on.

Check your fuel vapor recovery system, your van has unusual set up, and the effect is RAW fuel gets purged, rather than vapor.
The dead giveaway test is does the issue happen on light acceleration? Does it stop if you let off the throttle? Can you accelerate harder and "get past" the issue?
