As long as you didn't start it & they got it all the gasoline out you're fine.

tghis is the check engine light, this means u have a problem in the electroincs that control the engine or the emission system, this is outlined in the owners manual.

My 2005 A4 3.0 convertible audi is not a diesel, but I had a similar experience with a low oil signal going on and after checking the oil, which was sufficient, and replacing the dipstick, the light did not come back on until a subsequent trip. The light usualIy went on when I was close to the needing an oil change. I've had the car, a used one, for about two years, and the oil light minimum signal started behaving like yours early. About a week ago the oil pressure warning light came on. I don't know if there's a relationship, but if there is be careful. Audis of our vintage have a problem with sludge build up that damages the oil pump, which is a costly item. If you drive the car with low oil pressure you may seriously/fatally damage the car. I don't know if the sludge, if that's what you have, can be cleaned out, but I'd do it if it can be. My mechanic advised me to trade the car to a dealer rather than fix it. Hope you have better luck!

It may be a lifter tick, HOPEFULLY not a rod knock. However you would not need a brand new engine if either of those were the case. If you find someone that can rebuild the engine, that may or may not be cheaper depending on the dealer and parts that need to be replaced. It could also be the timing belt. The shop told you to wait for a check engine light because they dont know what's wrong with it, without plugging it into their computer. But you should NOT ignore it. Hope this helps.

AUDI A4- 2005. There is a technical service bulletin for this exact problem. take it to the dealer when this issue has happened while driving. During a daytime drive when cold see if you cant get the light to fail while circling your dealer. As soon as you pull into the service drive do not turn the car off do not flip the switch. I am an Audi Technician for a dealer in Birmingham alabama. Personally this is not my favorite repair to perform; What audi states is that if the bulb flickers the bulb should be replaced; if one side fails the bulb should be swapped left to right if the fault continues with the bulb the bulb is at fault; if the bulb is swapped and the bulb fails again on the same side it is the module. NOW: I currently am working on a 05 A4 that both bulbs both modules have been replaced and Audi has no clue what to advise on a repair. THIS IS AN ISSUE if it has happened to you ask if there is a TSB for this issue or try to find it for yourself.

my 215000mile Audi a4 starts immediately every time. Very likely to be timing related, especially if it was okay before the belt change. Hard starting for slightly mistimed engines is a known problem.
