The wire on the radio that controls the backlighting, does go to the dimmer.if you shorted it you could have cooked the dimmer switch.so on one side there would be 12 volts going into the dimmer and none coming out.measure the resistance and see if it is open

2007 Honda Pilot All the nighttime back lighting of all the dash buttons went out

  1. A blown fuse: If one of the fuses responsible for powering the dash lighting has blown, the backlighting will not work. Check the owner's manual to find the location of the fuse box and replace any blown fuses.
  2. A faulty dimmer switch: If the dimmer switch is not functioning properly, it could be causing the backlighting to stop working. Try replacing the dimmer switch to see if that fixes the problem.
  3. A damaged wiring harness: If the wiring harness that powers the backlighting has been damaged, the backlighting will not work. You may need to have the wiring harness repaired or replaced by a mechanic.
  4. A malfunctioning dashboard control module: If none of the above issues are causing the problem, the dashboard control module could be malfunctioning. This will require the attention of a mechanic.
It's also possible that the issue could be caused by a combination of these factors. If you are unable to fix the problem on your own, it's a good idea to have a mechanic diagnose and repair the issue.

1991 S-10 Chev Blazer Sport: All dash lights went out but fuse is good. The speeddometer would come and go then for months it worked, then today the whole dashlights went black. A short?

A short circuit is when any positive wiring touches any metal or bare wire that is grounded (to Neg Battery terminal). this would normally blow a fuse, and might burn some wires and give a burning pungent smell and maybe a little white smoke A Broken/OPEN circuit is when a wire is disconnected, wire broke or corroded so the wire doesn't make good contact. The instrumental panel is supposed to be grounded to the body/ Neg terminal on battery. a corroded ground wire could cause this. electricity has to complete a full circuit any disruption (fuses in Pos Wiring or any break of circuit in neg side wiring, did you ohm check fuse or a contuinity check, some times a bad fuse looks good to the eye . the dimmer switch could be bad, it's a cheap easy fix. do you or any previous owner live near the ocean, salt water causes a lot of corrosion problems in ground connections and dimmer switches . verify fuse good again as described , because you described a intermittent problem its probably the dimmer because a blown fuse can't repair it'self, but a corroded or wornout DIMMER SWITCH WILL MOST DEFINATELY, INTERMITTENTLY make a good connection causing the lights to work or fail spazmotically, so it is the most likely culprit.

Where is the fuses for the dashbord lights on 1998 nissan pathfinder

The fuse should be located in the main chassis fuse panel, on the drivers side, beneath the dash area. Look for a removable panel of some sort. I believe the dash lights may be on the same circuit as your tail lights. If your tail lights still work, you might not have a blown fuse. Check to make sure you don't have the dimmer switch turned all the way down. A lot of people never use their dimmer switches and completely forget about them until the lights inadvertently get turned all the way down. If it's not the fuse or the dimmer, you may have a bad headlight switch or other wiring issue.

Speedometer gauge/climate control lights dont work

Look for a dimmer wire,, sounds like your radio dont have the option for the car dimmer switch,,

the power for these lights run through the dimmer wire for the radio. ether its not hooked up or the radio dont have the option for it.

there is a way to bypass the radio dimmer option,, BUT you have to know what your doing or you could fry something.

look for Car Radio Illumination/dimmer Wire: should be Green.

Dashboard lights not working

No insult intended, but are you sure the lights on dash aren't just dimmed out? I fell for that one when it went through the car wash. Wiping down everything one of them rolled the dash dimmer. Good luck. And that inj looks like an abreviation for injector. That needs to be looked into cause something or an injector is shorted. good luck

No dash lights or dimmer control after installing a stereo system

Check out the Dimmer Switch Assembly - it may be faulty or there may be a short. I had a simular problem - resolved by replacing.
