The flashing light means there is a problem with the engine serious enough to damage the catalytic converter. You should get the computer scanned for trouble codes.
If there are no external coolant leaks, the engine is probably burning the coolant thru the cylinders and out the tail pipe. Which could also be causing the flashing light.

As Stephen has technically pointed out the coolant has to be going somewhere. A qualified mechanic will be able to tell you exactly where that is. All else, from a pin leak in the coolant hose to a crack in the engine block is all just speculation until the car is actually seen by a Professional.

Scan the ECU, why ignore the CEL begging to be scanned.
lost coolant is
1: on the ground,.?
2: passengers toes.?
3: in the engine oil pan. look. for milk-chocolate color oil.
4: in the A/T tranny pan, (if you have A/T) same color as above.
5: blown head gasket , which blows the AF out the exhaust as Steam.

AF= antifreeze coolant mix.
the coolant can only go 5 places.

do radiator leakdown test. and or, the blue/green I have exhaust gases in my radiator. test. both tools sold at NAPA auto. or have any ASE shop do this. there are tests for each of the 5 above causes. incuding simple overheating causes. Best practice is to do it now before you lunch a good motor.

SOURCE: Check engine light blinking

you need to reseal the sparkplug tubes. this requires removing the valve cover.the flashing check engine light means the converter is overheating due to unburned fuel going to the exhaust.

Just completed 20,000K,s with my 2012 2.8 Colorado towing an 18ft. Van. We Used 3lts of coolant. No sign of any leaks or contaminants in the engine oil or trans. fluid. Is this usual ?

no
as the coolant heats it expands and the radiator cap lets off into the reservoir that fills the reservoir
as the coolant cools down the radiator cap allows the low pressure in the cooling system to draw coolant back from the reservoir
To need to add coolant indicates that the draw back process is not happening possibly from the overflow hose not sealing off properly and allowing air back in and not drawing from the reservoir
check the reservoir for cracks as well

How to add antifreeze 2002 dodge intrepid

Open the container of antifreeze. Using a separate EMPTY gallon-size container, pour out HALF of the contents into the empty container, making sure not to spill any. Now, FILL the newly filled container with tap water. Fill the rest of the antifreeze with water, also. Now, you are ready to add antifreeze to your vehicle! Simply locate the radiator cap, (Don't touch it if it's hot!!) and unscrew it. Pour the desired amount of your mixed antifreeze into the radiator. Remember not to do this without proper knowledge!

check coolant level first and make sure no air trapped in system. Ask shop to use evac/fill equipment to purge air.

cold engine - remove cap & fill radiator with 50/50 mix antifreeze/water. install cap.

fill reservoir 3/4 full. run engine until upper rad hose is hot. let cool and see if it sucks coolant from reservoir. Keep res 3/4 full. repeat.

1995 Buick regal- filled the coolant reservoir with antifreeze last Sunday to the cool temp line. (antifreeze was straight and not 50/50) checked the radiator and there was coolant all the way to the neck....

Check all around the intake manifold gasket for evidence of antifreeze. Also check your oil for evidence of coolant. The Dexcool antifreeze used in GM engines can cause the intake gaskets to deteriorate causing coolant leakage. Very difficult to detect.

The heat light stays on even after i filled it

Do you mean coolant light when you say "heat" light? I assume you filled the coolant or antifreeze? If so, you need to check the reservoir as well as the radiator. Remove the cap when the engine is cold and fill it to the top with a fresh mixture of antifreeze and water.

My coolant in the reservoir disappears

You need to fill up the radiator with antifreeze when the engine is cold. After filling the radiator, bleed the system with a little screw located near the thermostat. let all the air out . Do this while the car is in operating temperature. Wait till it cools off , then check the reservoir again. Fill it with antifreeze up to the line indicated on the reservoir.
