When you replace a speed sensor, the light should turn itself off after driving it. If it does not go off, than there is another problem.

SOURCE: what additional parts do I need to buy to replace

when you say dust cap, and you mean the litle rectangular plastic piece that goes behind the drum then yes you must buy a new one if the old one is bad. I need to know if the car has drums or disk brakes. You need to replace the sensor only if the old one is bad.

SOURCE: abs light wont turn off after fixing problem with a jammed rear break.

unplugging the battery should clear it, try doing it for 5 or 10 minutes just in case, the only other way is to clear it with a OBD2 capable scan tool, also there could be an issue you havnt noticed and that was caused due to jammed brake. some parts stores will let you use thier scan tool provide the car is at the store, i would scan it just to double check the code then use the scan tool to clear it. most shucks/oreilleys parts store can do this

After replacing wheel bearing abs lights are on

Check the rear wheel speed sensors to ensure they're plugged in also check for debris or junk between the sensor and the tone ring the gap between the sensor and tone ring should be .003-.005. Do not use an ohmmeter to check resistance these need to be checked with a lab scope, however if the light was not on before the sensor should be good. I hope this helps. Take care.

How do i test the rear abs sensor on a 2007 tacoma

there is a good chance that the wire for the sensor has an internal break, this can happen if the axle drops down or the brake calipers falls down. Replacing the wire from the sensor to where it connects to the harness should fix this.

The brake pads and shoes are not elec., your abs light is on because your abs computer pick up a bad signal from one of your abs sensor's,, take it to any auto parts or some one like autozone where they can do a code reading and get back us with the code so we can help you diag. your trouble code.

Have replaced ABS module on bmw 525 E39 and ABS now ok, but the ASC lamp will not go off on the dash and fault code 23 (incorrect coding) will not clear from system? Everyone told us the ABS ecu does not...

ABS/ASC module is faulty
CLASSIC ABS FAILURE SYMPTOMS:
- Most of the time, the problem is the ABS module or one of the 4 wheel speed sensors (& sometimes the brake pressure sensor)
- In my 2002 BMW E39 DSC, three orange (warning) cluster display lights lit, ABS, Brake, & DSC
- The 3 warning lights reset when the ignition is turned off, only to repeatedly reappear within minutes of normal driving
- The fault is often intermittent leading you to falsely believe you've resolved the problem (proper diagnosis is important)
- Sometimes the fault only appears when the engine is hot; other times only at speeds over 40 mph
- Carsoft may erroneously show a rear speed sensor failure; but just replacing the speed sensor may make no difference.
- All the work is in correct diagnosis of the problem; parts replacement is trivial (from 1 to six bolts in a few minutes)
- Hence, this BMW E39 ABS 3-warning light DIY will concentrate on understanding and diagnosis of the problem

Trac Off and ABS Lights came on, won't go off

trac control & abs light staying on in dash on pt cruiser 2001 limited
well had same problem with my pt cruiser 2001, firstly there is no need to plug in computer under the dash for pulling abs error codes,
because the problem can be the cracked abs ring on the drive shaft/cv joint,
turn your steering all the way to left and ask your colleague to see if behind the tyre the abs ring is broken or cracked,
it is circular like a bracelete with grooves, then turn the steering to the right and repeat the inpesction,
if the abs ring is cracked then look on ebay or web for pt cruiser abs ring or kia abs ring, should cost about £5-£10 each
and a garage could heat it up with gas and hammer it into the drive shaft/cv joint for you for about £20-£30,
takes about 30min to 45mins, make sure the garage dont heat the cv booth kit rubber next to the abs ring when heating it up.
i heard you can only buy abs ring for front wheels and its not available separately for rear wheels,
so for rear you may need to buy the whole part it comes on
the front abs rings are easily visible when you turn the wheel to one side, the rear ones may not be visible as i have not seen them
so if the abs ring are good then it wil probably be one of the wheel sensors, in this case you you may look for a garage who will hook up
the computer and pull the code for you, be carefull if the say there are no abs error codes it means the sensors are ok and most of it
there is no need to buy abs sensor for any wheel when there are no error codes
on pt cruiser you can pull engine error codes yourself without a computer, just do the key dance on the ignition,
turn key until dash lights come on then switch off and then again turn key until dash lights come on then swithch off,
then turn key for third time again until dash lights come on , you will see engine error codes displayed then says done,
if there are no error codes it will say done, howevere these are engine error codes only not abs error codes,
abs error codes are pulled using abs diagnostic tool
incase its a faulty wheel sensor, will cost £45 at dealer or £20 from scrap, then a garage can removed the tyre and plug out the old sensor cable
and replace it with a new one, one end is easy to plug in but the other end has to be pushed in at an angle,
its about 30min job and garage can charge £20 or so
my pt cruiser is back on the road with just one abs ring replaced and it all cost me £30 alltogether

92 dodge van rear ABS-brake and ABS lights on/can't reset?

Its probably how your bleeding your brakes, but first make sure the bleeding nipples are facing upward. You should bleed diagonaly, front pass wheel then rear driver wheel. Then front driver wheel and rear pass wheel. The abs light has its own computer your have to get it scanned to clear the codes and turn off the light

ABS light, light come on goes off and comes back at 5-10mph

have had simmilar problemn with my 1992 licoln towncar do have a solution however will cost hundreds you have a ABS speed sensor out as u kno the problem is you cannot only replace one because they are wire through the axels you have to replace both meaning either both front or both rear in your case if front driversside is faulty you will need to replace both unhooking will only cause light to permantely stay on one suggestion that may help atleast to get an inspection would be to dissconnect sensors to that paticular wheel shut off engine and restart when light is off dissconnect batter for 5 mins then reconnect tghis will reset computer inside possibly giving you enough time to get an inspection befoere computer resets and abs comes back on however it is not guarented to work depends on severit y of damaged sensor and how quickly you module can reset note that this is a temo fix abd sensor will not prevent any stopping or cause danger to braking system it will infact stil engage possibly not on that wheel but that is the problem with an abs as apposed to just a standard anti lock braking system more sensor to break and cost hundreds
