I just got a new 2008 RAM 2500 with 6.7 Cummins. So far I have driven 1000 miles. Yesterday the check engine light appeared while running. What can I do to avoid getting to the dealer?

Depends what the rattling is really... If it's the engine , could need a valve adjustment... I've also heard of torque converters make a rattle when going bad, but only when in drive or reverse
Hi, I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9 Cummins with 225,000 miles. Just today, my Haul/Tow keeps coming on and Trans/Temp light. Keeps automatically switching in and out on its own. It's been 100,000 miles since my last trans maintenance. Going to a mechanic close and he suggested to start with fluid change, filter change, and inspect the band, maybe adjust. Trans runs very smoothly. Checked the fluid, looks clean and not hot. Is this common with this year and mileage? If so, whats normally the out come? If the band is bad, do I have to replace the entire trans?
Hi,
if you have a Cummins diesel then it probably has a geardriven water pump. Dodge gas engines have a belt driven water pump, much cheaper. Check around for a re-man water pump if you have a Cummins installed. The prices vary enormously.
your code is PCM/ECM power input signal intermittent. this is ussually a sign of a bad connection whether it be in a connector or a short or brake in a wire.
usaly You use a OBD 2 Scan tool if you do not have one you might want to disconect battery for a minute then reconect the battery how ever keep in mind if you do not fix the switch that cause the *eng light* to come on it will return when you start the car up again,Hope this helps ,John
Whenever your check engine light is on your vehicle is in a limp mode. So you may notice extra fuel consumption. But you can run it for sometime with this light on without issue.........TPS stands for throttle position sensor. It tells the computer how far the throttle butterfly valve is open in the air intake of your truck. Hope this helps!
its free at the dealer see if autozone can pull the code for free
