SOURCE: 1996 Audi A4 Quattro has a noisy rear differential

It's the wheel bearing. Guaranteed. Just replaced mine. Go to Audiworld tech articles for step by step instructions on how to test the wheel bearings. They must have been put in wrong last time or they just went out again.

if car shakes whilst acelerating and goes off when you let you foot off throttle then could well be a drive shaft cv joint

What can be possible problem be? at 10-15 mph very slight vibration in steering wheel and dosn't seem to roll right

Blister or broken steel braid in tire. Lug nut torqued properly? If you suspect tire, move it to the back and see if the noise/vibration migrates with it. The only other guess would be your wheel bearing is failing.

Hello everyone having similar sort of issues , any help would be much appreciated ,, trouble with my 04 plate a3 2.0 tdi , the car loses power in first and second makes a lot of noise but doesn't really go anywhere but if ease completely off and back on again the turbo kicks in properly it also won't go over 4000 rpm unless I go off and on the throttle any help would be greatly appreciated also I took the vacuum resivour pipe off whilst checking a few things and it cured it until I was cruising down the motorway and it just lost all power so I stopped and put vacuum resivour pipe back on and after about 15 mins the vacuum must have built back up again because it was back to just being useless in 1st and 2nd gear ..???????? 1996 ford contour loud humming noise and vibration from front wheels

You have a defective wheel bearing most likely, the noise sounds correct for that problem. have a shop drive it before you replace anything to confirm my guess.

Roaring Noise Most Noticeable At 35 mph On Up.

sound like a wheel bearing problem , the best way to tell is to slightly move the steering side to side to change the weight and the noise should get louder with the weight on it . do this at the 35mph when the noise come on more .

2004 Chrysler Crossfire 25,000 mls auto, road hum noise

MOST of the hums after a while come from the diff as the back axle does the driving and almost all its life runs the same way except when going in reverse ,is the rear diff meshing and worn on both the crownwheel and the pinion and the humming gets slightly louder the faster you go and almost goes when almost stopped and this can also be the slight vibration you get so get the diff oil drained and refilled and check if there is any metal in the oil when drained if so thats your problem But it will last for years like that..Let me know how you get on RON

Humming noise starting @ 35MPH with increasing tone as speed excells or declines. Very faint vibration can be felt in the steering wheel.

Check the wheel bearings. Does the pitch of the noise change as you weave the wheel back and forth at 35?
