Total, sudden power failure

We bought a Z3 BMW 1999 48000 miles on the clock, 2 days ago. The dealer put it through a fresh MOT and the car passed with no advisories. We have driven it with no bother since owning it but today the abs warning light came on the dash board, when we parked the power cut out completely. We tried turning the key in the ignition to turn it on but the car is not responding at all, not even clicking. We could not lock the car using the central locking. Do you know what this could be?

SOURCE: How to replace jammed ignition lock cylinder

If the lock is completely frozen, you will need to replace the lock housing. The housing has come apart inside. Does your manual give instruction on how to replace the ignition lock housing? Make sure you ask the dealer for new break away bolts for the new housing.

SOURCE: have a 1995 bmw 525i and i went to statrt it one morning and the key turned in the ignition but the car would not turn over there was no spring resistance when you turn the key to the start positition

It sounds like the rod which goes from the key cylinder down to the slide switch has come loose. The rod is along the bottom side of the steering column (or insidie it). If you reattach the rod all should work again.

SOURCE: car steering wheel locked; car won't start

If this is a floor shifter or center console shifter there is actually a lock release next to the shifter. Look next to the shifter handle and you should see a small square plug in the console remove the plug and you will see a little white button in it this is the shifter release push it and you can move the shifter.

SOURCE: Hi all, the central locking

First try lubricating locks with powdered graphite. Avoid ALL liquid lock lubricants. Then work locks through all positions from passenger door. (single lock positions & double lock position) Lastly operate locks via boot lock.

BMW Z3 WRONG UNLOCK RADIO CODE HOW TO GET THE RIGHT ONE

If the radio is displaying code wait, or wait, then the ignition and radio must remain on for 1hour. I would contact a dealer within the USA and provide them with your radio serial number. The serial number can be displayed in the radio by pressing and holding down the "M" button while turning on the ignition.

Yes. If it was bought in the US, it was coded for the US, so have a US dealer provide the code.
