Well, let me just say that if you have gone 10,000 miles without servicing your brand-new Lexus, you are a LOT braver than I would ever be. I certainly do not have the gold available to pay for the possible consequeces of pulling that one off. When was the last time you even checked your engine oil level? I have seen MANY vehicles run completely out of oil between 3000 mile services and completely DESTROY the engines! 10,000 miles is REALLY taking HUGEchances!
You may have 2 separate problems...One for the oil needing service and one for a problem with your AWD system. However, Toyota and Lexus are known for disabling things like AWD, ABS, Traction Control, etc. when the engine computer detects things like low oil pressure or low oil levels. This can cause several warning lamps to all come on at the same time.
GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED!!! Hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and have not done any serious damage by not getting it serviced when you should have.
Your oil should be changed every 3000 miles (Or every 5000 miles if you are using full-synthetic oil). You should also check the oil level between services AT LEAST every 1000 miles (or more often, if you are having to add oil at 1000 miles). For a properly maintained vehicle, checking the oil level between oil changes SHOULD seem a total waste of time. However, it is the single, MOST IMPORTANT thing you can spend your time on when it comes to getting a lot of miles from your investment. If your engine starts using (burning) oil or if it starts leaking oil, you will not know about it in time to save your engine if you are not in the habit of checking it on a regular basis.
No, they you just need lights reset with an OBII scanner. (They forgot to reset your service interval) Any good parts store like Advance, Autozone, etc can do this for you too and FREE
a major service is due at 60000 miles. the light is just a reminder that maintenance is due. is it the message on the nav screen or the one on the dash cluster? if you want to turn it of, hold the trip/od button in while turning the ignition on, keep your foot off the brake, dont start the car. you will see dashes flashing where the od shows miles, hold until its done flashing. and the lite on the dash cluster will go out. it will come back on after 5000 miles. you can go online to lexus.com to review what the services are and what they involve.
The above "Guru has no idea what he is talking about. The yellow oil light means you need a new oil level sensor, if your oil is indeed full. Its located in the oil pan and costs around $100.
Oh, and oil changed are around 15,000 miles, not 6000 miles. When the BMW is due for an oil change or inspection, the display says so. The yellow light is low oil. Please avoid giving advice when you don't know what you're talking about.
Can you explain the light? Does it say chack engine? Maint? If it says MAINT you need to get your oil changed. If you dont go to the dealership to change your oil, they dont reset the timer for the MAINTenance light and it comes on anyway. Get a better mechanic, and get your light reset. Or I can teach you how to reset it, just let me know.
Hi, One easy way that you con try to reset your check engine light is disconecting your batery positive cable for few minutes , if this dont turn it off just call any lexus dealer ,they will tell you If is any other way to reset it ,( good luck)
