Most probably the high intensity filaments in the tail lights burned out. (It happened to me and I thought it was the brake pedal switch, but both bulbs failed almost at the same time!)

Remove the bulbs first to check the filaments with an ohmeter, if good, then it is either the pedal switch or the wiring, or even the ground connection. Amclaussen.

Check for defective fuse for a start. brake lights on different circuit so shouldn't be affected

Brake lights and turn signals work, tail lights will not come on. Please help

The brake lights and tail lights use the same ground. So if the brake lights work the ground is good.
There is a relay and then a fuse for each side.
I would check the sockets with a meter to see if the circuits have power with the parking lights on.

My brake lights work but my tail lights and reverse lights don't work. Also my dash lights quit when I changed the switch for my headlights.

Check your fuses. I had the same problem with a 90 Honda civic. Dash lights went out, tail lights also went out. Replaced 1 fuse and all came back on.

2001 ford focus left tail light not working... left brake light does

You should have the computer scanned for trouble codes for the warning light.
As for the tail light, I would check the socket with a test light or meter to see if the socket is getting power for that circuit. The brake-turn signal circuit of the bulb is different from the tail light circuit.

My tail lights went out but my brake lights and my turn signals still work ....what can it be

Bulbs need replaced, your brake lights and turn signals work off of half of the bulb, while your tail lights work off the other half. It is either your bulbs need replaced, or a fuse went bad, but it is definitely something simple.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango I bought about 4 hours ago. The tail lights do not work but the brake light and turn signals do. Also the dash lights do not work. The dash lights came on when I hit the...

The odds are the one fuse is blown for the dash and the tail lights. And the wrong bulb may have been put in for the brake light. The brake light is feeding back into the tail light circuit causing the fuse to blown out.

Change out the bulbs with OEM bulbs and replace the blown fuse. That should fix the problem.

Tail lights and brake lights not working - not fuse - what can it be?

Brake light switch, located on upper brake pedal should be checked, that is most likely your brake light issue, but U say tail lights aren't working, but running lights do, tail lights and running lights I would consider to be the same, so can u clarify that for me? Let me know how the u do w/ brake light switch, and if u have issue w/ tail lights?
