I would look for a vacuum leak

compressor is overworked.
check for leaks

have the fault codes read have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump/ regulator and filter. Check the injectors for blocked tips.

catalytic converter is clogged

M.a.P. sensor, air leak in intake system, low or erratic fuel delivery

Could be something jumping around in the exhaust. Is your catalytic conv in that area?

Try turning on the ac or turning the steering. The increased load on the engine should lower the the rpm. If the Idle Air Control valve is working correctly it should sense the load and maintain the rpm or even increase it a bit.. Also this should be cover under warrenty.
