I bought new honda civic 2009 two months ago. after 1st service at 1000 km, one day I noticed the flashing of the low oil pressure indicator, and some noise from the engine, I stopped the car and called the dealer, they came and towed the car. by that time it has run only 2800 km.
after inspection they told me that one of the engine seals have leaked due to which this leak is there..
whcih they will change and it will be o.k. but they dont have the seal, so thay have ordered from japan.
I want to know Is this a common problem or there is some thing more serious and which had an affect on the engine in the long run.
Personally, I think you may have suffered some engine damage. No matter how minor, I would definitely push to either have Honda give you a new car or at the least, replace the engine under your warranty. They will not want to but it is a factory defect. You don't say how long you drove it with the oil pressure light on, but usually when the light comes on the oil is waaaay low.
I assume you are not in the US (since you use km) so I do not know what legal recourse you have.

next time you change the oil use a quart of Lucus oil treatment inplace of one quart of oil. The oil is warmed up it loses viscosity so that is normal to have lower oil pressure. I use Lucus oil treatment along with Mobil 1 and my truck runs great with just a little higher oil pressure this makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
sometimes the service technician fails to remove the old oil filter gasket. This causes a leak at the oil filter. This would cause a leak which would lead to low oil pressure and loss of oil. You would have to remove the oil filter and check for an extra gasket. Or perhaps the oil filter was never tightened. If you find one then just remove it and re-install oil filter. You will, however, leak a couple cups of oil so have a drip pan ready. You may have damaged your engine if you ran with no/low oil pressure for any length of time.
You might have a bad head gasket.Check oil dipstick to see if your oil is milky and check your exhaust. Is it blowing white smoke more than normal. With this mileage it is probably your gasket.
Sounds like they're doing what the warranty requires them to do. They're not going to replace the car. They'll replace the engine only if it's truly damaged. I don't think that's really a "common problem"; Honda makes some pretty good products. You could ask if there's a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for that failure. You don't say which seal it is that failed; they might have gotten some defective seals from a supplier or it could have been installed incorrectly. It sounds like you did the right thing in shutting it down and getting it towed when you noticed the light on. If it didn't overheat, I'd doubt if there were actually any internal damage. An engine can actually run some distance if all the oil drained out. (not reccomended). You've quite a bit of warranty left and this problem is documented, so I wouldn't sweat it.
It looks like misfiring in one cylinder. That is why check engine come on. Misfiring can be due to spark plugs/wiring/worn distributor cap. Maybe also vaccum leak and clogged injectors (use injector cleaner).
