You could try "seafoam" It is an additive which you can add to your oil and fuel. I like it, if it is just a sticky valve, that should clear it up. Otherwise,It is probably a rod or main bearing knock, the reason it comes after time is the oil viscosity, as your car warms up, the oil gets thinner. If your looking to unload it, try changing your oil to a heavier weight. Straight 50w oil is thicker, you could also try the engine rebuild junk that parts stores sell, but follow the directions exactly and get rid of the car soon. Other wise, your looking at rebuilding or replacing the engine. It could also be a burnt valve, but the car would likely be smoking if that were the case. If you have access to a compression tester, check compression in each cylinder. That will tell you about the heads, and rings.

Sounds like lifter noise. The best solution for lifter noise is, change the oil use a good quality oil , i would recommend a synthetic oil or at least a couple of quarts. Then get a bottle of MARVEL MYSTERY OIL this stuff works good add that to you oil when you change it and that should clear up any lifter noise. Another thing that might help use a higher grade gas a couple of times.

The wiring diagrams for the 95 Accent do not show any OEM (original equipment manufacture) 'anti-theft' systems.... this does not preclude the possibility that an After Market system was installed.

The noise you hear could very well be a lifter. But that is not what is causing your engine light to come on. The engine light problem can be diagnosed by having the codes read. You can have this done for free at most national parts chains such as Advance or Auto Zone. Good luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Is the battery new or just charged. the battery could be the problem. Check the cables for corrosion or loose connections. The cables can corrode inside the insulation near the battery this can be seen by swollen cables.
