Just bought a '92 volvo 240 station wagon. Drove fine during test drive, but the next day would turn over but not start. Was sitting up over 4 months. Now, starts fine, so far. Has it cured itself?

Lol, cars dont cure themselves, sadly. If it sat that long, you might want to think about doing a tune up on it. Check under the distributor cap and rotor for oxidation or corrosion.

new fuel filter when replaced the pump? might have a bare wire somewhere causing the fuse to blow usually the relay is under hood with main fusses and secondary being under dash or in glove box.
Check for vacuum leaks, pull off your intake hose and look for small cracks, also go to the rear of car and listen for you intank fuel pump, needs to making an humming sound,no sound or intermediate this can be your problem.
You need to check the headlight relay to see if it is still good. Parts store can tell you where it should be and what the part number is when you find it. A good shop will be able to test it. I have found that Volvo likes to play hide the relay under the dash so it's hard to say for sure where it will be.
If you can get it running again, get it to an electrical shop where they can test the charging system. If the alternator is still bad, it will continue draining the battery. If it won't run, pull the alternator and take it to a shop that can test it.
I tink you have to replace the catalyst for better acceleration probably is blocking the combustion that's what you loosing power, I have 240 wagon 92 and i just did it. my 184k miles good luck.
