After driving my 406 estate 2002 hdi 90 for an hour or more the wipers come on for no good reason and when i park the car up and switch ignition off and a warning comes up saying,[immobiliser fault] so i switch ignition back on and everything on the car is going mad,ten to the dozen, all the lights come on,wipers are going, all the dash is lit up and the immobaliser warning key is on,the car will not start. So i leave it overnight and go back in the morning to pick it up,i open up the car and switch ignition on and start the car up,every thing working as it should be,until iv been driving for a time and then the wipers come on and everything happening all over again.its driving me crazzyyyyy,iv tried everything, what is it,what code is it,is it the immobilser,ECU,BCM,what can i try, hellllpppppp.
I hate to rain on your parade but welcome to the world of French car electrics. You could try an owners forum or a non franchised specialist may help. This is why people in the know only buy new and sell on after 3 years. Renault, Peugeot, Citroen all suffer from nightmare electrical faults. My only suggestion is to check as best as you can all harness connections for tight fit and any corrosion.

The ignition key may be defective or in need of a battery to generate the code needed to disarm the immobilizer. Hope this helps!
