2005 Grand Prix stalls driving down the road, after sitting for 10 to 15 minuets it's fine. This happens all the time. The garage where I have taken it to can't seem to figure out what is wrong with it. I've been told it could be the filter inside the gas tank, and sediment in the tank.

SOURCE: starts and stalls

I had a similar problem on my 1999 Grand Prix, 3.8l engine. I replaced the IAC Motor (Idle Air Control) that attaches into the throttle body. After disconnecting the battery, the computer goes into a learning process. It stalled once, but now seems to be running correctly. The codes set were Engine Misfire, which could be anything. I also bought a crank sensor, which is suspect, but I didn't install it.

SOURCE: 98 firebird stalls while driving down the road.

if there are no codes it could be a crank sensor. most common if it only happens after you go over 80klms per hour is the egr valve

SOURCE: pontiac grand am stalling

believe me the motor in your car has spark plugs. unless the engine is a deisel which i highly doubt...you definitely have a fuel problem, or more likely a gas guage problem.where at a 1/4 tank it actually is running on fumes... have it checked at a full service garage..good luck..

It sounds to me like you need to replace your fuel filter. Depending on when your last complete tune up was, I would start there for sure.

Unfortunately, you might have to replace every sensor until the problem goes away. It is a matter of process by elimination. I am in the same position. Good luck

My 1999 Pontiac GP stalled going down the road. It will start, run for about 2 seconds then stalls again. Any hints to look at first?

sounds like you have a fuel pump problem the way to check it is to let it sit for about 3 or 4 hours and then start it and see how long it will run if it runs for a while and doesnt quit it means your fuel pump is overheating and shutting down. hope this helped

Engine stalling out while driving

It could be that your fuel injection system is failing, try putting some fuel injection cleaner (gas additive) into your gas tank, you should notice a difference after the first full tank. If not it will be time to get your system checked-out at a garage.
