Before I got out of my car last night, I locked all my doors manually from the inside using my drivers side lock. Then I pulled up the lock on the drivers side door so that I could get out, and manually locked it before I shut the door. This morning I went to stick my key into the drivers side door to unlock it, as I usuually do, and the key would not turn to unlock the door? I have been doing this for years since key remote is not working. What is going on?

Hi
I don't think that you have a major problem with your Cherokee
I suggest you spray some WD40 into the key cylinder seems is sized a bit
Good luck

SOURCE: 1998 Jetta Passenger Door Won't Unlock

I had a similar problem with my son's 1998 Jetta K2 4 door. I sprayed loads of WD40 into the locking area from the end of the door through the clip slot, worked the mechanism sprayed some more and finally it start working. My mechanic said these are very prone to moisture causing rusting on the moving parts.

SOURCE: Central Locking not working

Hi Craig,
I'm running a E34 Tds Touring with a similar problem, my rear doors and tailgate have dropped of the central locking circuit.
I have been told it is the Central locking Module a large black box under the dash that is faulty, apparently a common problem.
Hope this points you in the right direction,
Please remember to rate my effort!

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Drivers side power door lock broken

Sounds like the link rod to the latch are jammed in the locked position by something inside the door or it came off. Any way, you have to remove the door panel to get access to it.

Driver's side door won't open from inside or outside

Check the linkage between the lock cylinder and the lock; when the latch was loose, the linkage may have broken or otherwise disconnected. The lock/unlock rod to the latch will be accessible inside the door for manual operation rather than using the lock cylinder or interior lock in the door panel. If this is the rear door on the driver side, additionally check the position of the child safety lock; when this is in the ON position, the inside door handle function is disabled. Driver's side door problem?

The problem is that you have to pull the door panel off to get to the locking mechanism. This requires special tools and care. Once removed, there is usually a very sticky sound barrier installed and it comes off and then you can access all the internal -parts . you can then trace the latch and lock rods. It sounds like they have come loose

2009 Expert. remote fob not working. The central locking will not work with the key, only the drivers door locks. Worried because I'll have to leave the van open over night.

Try replacing the FOB battery. Check the fuse for door locks. usually located in the engine bay fuse box. Temporarily you can lock the other doors from inside the van and lock the driver door last using the key. Another possibility is that the locking switch in the driver door is faulty or the central locking motor is. All other doors will only lock if the driver door locking system works. When you lock the driver door, the locking motor will hit a switch that will lock the other doors.

Fix a door lock being stuck in locked postion

You might try WD-40, stick the plastic nozzle in the lock as far as it will go, shoot some in, let it work for a few minutes, and the key should move. If you do this several times a year, it will also keep your locks from freezing, in cold weather.

2006 buick lucerne back doors won't open

My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!

Keyless entry problem to 04 suburban the doors will all lock however the drivers side will not unlock. Last night the passenger door unlocked and I tried manually to unlock from that door and drivers door...

FIRST TRY TO USE LITHIUM GREASE SPRAY CAN ON ALL MOVING ITEMS INSIDE DOOR. AS YOU SPRAY EACH ITEM PUSH AND PULL ON DOOR HANDLE, DOORLOCK PLUNGER. WHILE YOUR IN THERE DO THE DOOR WINDOW GEARS AND MOVE WINDOW UP AND DOWN TOO. SPRAY ALL YOU WANT THE GREASE WONT HURT ANYTHING.
IF STILL DOES NOT WORK REPLACE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. USUALLY ONLY 2-3 BOLTS AND 1 CONNECTOR WITH 2 WIRES COMING OFF IT.
