IF there is a sleeve around the spark plugs then when replacing the plugs replace the seal under that sleave as well or rocker cover oil will leak out past the plug base.. If you want the correct oil filter you may have to buy genuine . Run fault codes to find the reason for rough idle . It may be a vacuum hose is off or cracked or loose.

SOURCE: not firing right on no.4

First check plug and make sure the right plug for this vehicle, make sure that the heat rating for this plug is correct. Your problem could be a wrong heat rating plug been installed. Also make sure that the misfire is due to a bad plug and NOT a bad injector or injector wiring or uneven compression or even bad coil. Check injector wiring and make sure it not shorting or broken. To check injector pulse use a NOID light can be bought at almost any auto parts store like Auto-zone etc. Also compression can be checked with compression guage. A rule of thumb to go by is if any cylinder has more than 10 PSI in difference in compression there is a problem like a burnt valv etc. Here is a n example cyl# 1 170psi cyl#2 176 psi cyl#172psi cyl# 4 150 psi, there is a problem with cylinder # 4 and will cause a miss from cylinder #4. Good luck and thank for using FIX YA

SOURCE: I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L,

The plenum problem should not affect compression tests. It allows oil to get sucked into the intake and will cause carbon buildup, plug fouling, and pinging. If you have zero compression on a cylinder, it is usually a valve problem. Even a burned piston will make some compression, unless it has a big hole in the middle.
Sorry, but if your compression results are to be trusted (and it seems they are), then you have to tear a head off to find the problem, or at least get a borescope in it.

SOURCE: Sluggish performance and engine light - added new plugs and oil

You need to check for engine codes to see what is wrong. Bring it to a parts store for a free scan for codes. The check engine light indicates a problem, probably the emissions system, which is causing the poor performance. The parts store will plug a hand held scan tool into the cars diagnostic port (usually located under the dash) and 'read' any codes stored in the cars computer. They can them tell you what code #'s come up, what they mean, and how to correct the problem. If you have any questions after that, post them here w/ the code #;s for further help.

SOURCE: 1996 Honda Accord Rough Idle Even After tune up

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps

I am driving bmw 520i 1992 model,all 6spark plugs are black,what causes that?

Many possibilities. Does it run well? Idle well? Tail pipe black too? 1st, coolant temp sensor bad. Also weak spark (coil/module), leaky cold start injector, bad valve guide seals, clogged exhaust/converter, bad O2 sensor.

Check compression and timing. Then check sensors(MAF, oil pressure sensor). Don't crank engine too long. Cranking engine may pour a lot of petrol into your engine oil.

Hi

I am assuming your old air flow pipe was ripped ? If that was the case it can often damage the air mass sensor / meter, they are quite delicate on these cars. the other alternative would be the throttle control module although these raely go, do all the air pipes have a good tight seal around them? any air leaks will cause the car to be sluggish.

Hope this helps, as regard to the clocks not showing mileage is the back light lit up?

Location of oil filter on BMW 323i coupe '99 reg and how to fit new cartridge

Both E36 and E46 models have oil filter under the hood, towards the front of the block. You will need a special socket to remove the oil filter cap and once it's out, can replace the filter. Make sure to replace the gasket on oil filter cap, it should come in oil filter kit you bought.
