Loosing coolant I'm pouring coolant into this vehicle almost everyday. I have checked for leaks didn't find any, I checked my oil thinking maybe a head gasket leak nothing there, heat works great so I'm thinking the thermostat is ok I cant seem to find a leak big enough in the radiator that would have me pour coolant almost everyday.. any other solutions you may have?

The test is easy
it uses the magic of the system has 12 to 14PSI pressure all the time.
hot. so park it get it hot. to 180F (old thermostats fail, they are #1 failure ,so why would you discount that?????)
ok its really hot , my pryo gun shows 180F ,ok real hot is true. no bs.
so now look for leaks.
if you see none
and the passenger toes are dry (heater core drips)
then there are on external leaks,
if true that, then its INTERNAL LEAKS!

head gasket is failing or the A/T or engine oil pan is full of AF.
are you running 50%^ AF all the time, ?????

everywhere you drive do you look after parking, for ground leaks.?
as you leave car and when you come back.
you must. or miss the boat.

SOURCE: slite oil leak from rear valve cover gasket per dealer $650.00

Hello. Let me try to assist you the best I can, with the hope of achieving a FixYa rating from you for my assistance.

Changing the rear valve cover gasket on your vehicle would be not considered a "real" big job, but IS a time-consuming job.
In order to remove the rear cover, you first have to remove the intake plenum. If you do not remove the plenum, you can't get to the valve cover bolts that are under the plenum. After the plenum is off, the valve cover is easy to access. You will also need to replace the intake plenum gasket, if you do the job yourself.

I hope this information has satisfied your question.
Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance!

Car over heating it will go several weeks running fine then just looses water. Like liters at a time. I can't find where it leaking to, and floorboards don't feel wet. Any ideas

Hi Barry
I think your car is loosing little coolant everyday but you are not checking the coolant level till it comes over heating, correct me if i am wrong.
I advise you to do a cooling system pressure test, this way you'll see where the leak is.
Good luck

Oil in ovverflo of coolant but not the reverse drive everyday flush once month

If there is oil in water, then there may be a head gasket leak. However, half a quart of oil loss every 15,000 mi. is not bad. If van runs perfectly, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe try some Bar's Leaks Head Gasket Repair for $30 or so to fix the slow leak in the coolant system.

Loosing coolant and can not find leak

Three additonal places to check:

1) Pull your dip stick and see if the oil on it shows signs of coolant in it. The oil would appear milky beige in color. This would indicate a leaking head gasket into the oil system.

2) Check for leaking coolant on the passenger side fire wall inside the vehicle. This would indicate a leaking heater core.

3) Check the exhaust when the car is running looking for white steam. This would indicate a leaking head gasket into a cylinder.

Loosing coolant, but no drips on the ground at all. Where is it going? Changed the coolant holder, as thought it may have a crack, but the coolant is still disappearing. It is not leaking through any...

you need to take the oil dipstick and see what color the oil is if it is milky color your piston rings are leaking or maybe main seal look on back side of motor side if real dirty oily wet also check your thermostat maybe leaking slowly on motor burning it off hope this helps where i would start

High temp low oil 2003 ford explorer

High temp could be low coolant check your coolant level. Low oil-check for leaks, if no leaks then check for blue smoke out exhaust, if no blue smoke it could just be low. A vehicle will go through a quart of oil between oil changes, even a newer one.

I have a 2003 Grand Caravan 3.8l that is loosing coolant

1st check the condition of the oil by checking the dipstick. If the oil looks milky then it's a head gasket issue. If oil is ok, refill coolant, start vehicle and let it run for 5 to 10 min. If you notice alot of white steam coming from exhaust then it's a head gasket. After vehicle reaches normal operating temperture, shut vehicle off. Now you're gonna have to check each individual spark plug. If you find one that's wet from coolant then you're gonna have to replace head gasket.

VEHICLE DOES NOT HEAT AT IDLE. LOOSE COOLANT WITH

Have you chacked the condition of the coolan, to make sure it is not mixing with engine oil? The reason why the temperature gauge is not registering is maybe bacause the coolant level is way too low.

Water pouring out when poured into radaitor

You have a bad casting plug in the side of the engine. A lot of people call them freeze plugs because they pop out if the coolant freezes. They also rust through. They are driven in place and the size can be looked up at the parts store. You will want to change all of them . Lee

Radiator water loss

heat temperature evaporates water, therefore the water level will decrease on a more than daily basis as the vehicle is used. This is just one of the reasons for water loss (or usage). The radiotor drain plug migh be loose or worn. the plug is a white plastic like bolt on the base side of the radiator. Some hoses may be loose, worn or broken. the radiator itself may have a leak somewhere within the accordions. pour in some radiator stop leak.
also try coolant instead of water; coolant has a less evaporative density than water.

Low coolant

"I assume the chocolate color is an indication of maybe not water leaking into the oil?"
I'll lay $5 on it's being coolant :-)

As for the "overflow cap" or expansion tank filler cap as I would call it, in the absence of a VW engineer telling you different, I would leave it loose while the Stop Leak was taking effect, just to avoid forcing the Stop Leak into the oil system as the coolant system pressurised. If the can says "...works in ten minutes" then you could tighten it after that time.

Be sure to check the coolant level soon afterwards to find out if it has worked.

If the Stop Leak doesn't... I'd recommend getting a mechanic to find the leak and fix it. Left to themselves, things go from bad to worse.

Good Luck, D.
