I guess my first question would be - what are your plans for the car ?
Totally stock, modified, or race ?
Totally stock would be the most valuable in terms of resale. Modified or race would limit the number and type of possible buyers.
It had a straight 6 cyl 250 - a 350 V8 - or 400 V8 when new. The VIN would tell you want the original engine was. And this was before GM swapped engines between brands. So the V8 engines were Pontiac built. The Pontiac 6 cyl was overhead cam.

SOURCE: where do you check transmission fluid 1995 pontiac

You check the transmission fluid by removing the fill plug on the passenger side of the transmission. Remove the fill plug and if you get fluid leaking, your full, if not then place your finger in it and feel for the level or just add ATF. There is also a drain plug at the bottom and you can change the transmission oil by draining the oil out and replacing it with syntactic or by adding additives to the ATF so you can more life out of the transmission fluid. Your transmission will take 2.8 liters of ATF to refill if drained. Good luck and hope this helps.

As long as the transmission tail shafts are the same it should fit nice . check the tail shaft (not drive shaft) they are interchangable if it is longer or shorter.

SOURCE: NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CHANGE OUT IGNITION SWITCH ON

It is easy if you have the tools. you need a steering wheel puller and a spring compressor for the plate under the wheel. a bunch of screws and turn signal switch and hazzard switch you can gain access. Remember everything has to go back where it came from, no exceptions in this case.

SOURCE: changing back brakes on 1995 pontiac firebird

these are drum brakes I assume, start but only taking apart one side and leave the other side to gether if you get lost in the reassembly, do not take the brake adjuster from one side of the car to the other they are different, one is right hand thead one is left, you need a blade screw driver and a pair of pliers some antiseize, springs hold everything together, go slow and you should be fine. Replace worn, cracked, pads, use sandpaper to clean up the drums if they are rusty from sitting, you can get them measured to make sure they are not worn out at you local supply store, if they are good reuse them, a can of brake cleans will clean up all the old brake dust and is much safer then compresed air, don't breath the dust! Lubricate behind the shoes where they contact the backing plate, you will see rub marks, turn the adjusters all the way in upon assembly, place drum on car and turn side to side, they should be free, turn out adjuster until it just starts to drag on the drum, bleed the brakes with a friend and check that drum is still free. Good luck.
