Air condition blows hot and dash reads ecm data link problem

My mother has a 1992 olds 98 and the dash reads ecm data link problem. We were wondering what the ecm does and if it could be the reason why the air conditioner will not work. We had a mechanic to look at it and he says that the computer is not telling the compressor to come on. The car has freon and the blower works, it just won't get cold. He says that that he could replace the computer(whatever computer he is talking about) but says that he does not know if that will fix the problem.

It's your instrument cluster (digital speedometer). Changed mine today with a used one at the junk yard. A $50 fix, but it's worth it. The only way I knew was to buy the service manual for the car.

Air conditioning system, when you turn on the air conditioner the drivers side blows cold air and the passengers side blows hot air? What causes this problem?

The most common cause of this is that you have a stuck air temperature control blend door, this can be a motor actuator issue or a jammed door or both (common). To replace both parts you will need to completely remove the dash from the car to access the blend door.

2002 Toyota Camey LE Dianostics not reading

check that the data link ( 16 pin connection under the dash) is connected correctly to the ECM . You may have to take it to a Toyota dealer service centre to have the connection problem fixed first. It could be in the wiring., connections or the ECM itself.

1992 Dodge Dakota 2wd 3.9L V6 Air conditioning/Heater dosent blow? when i turn the air or the heat on i can hear the compressor kick on but it dosen't blow cold or hot? any help would be appreciated

Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.

I have a 1992 mercedes 200 E WDB 021 Saloon, it has 8 button air condition and I dont know how to use it. Control wheel on blue position but When I push the button (leftmost)which has a glass figure on it,...

The pulley on the air condition has to turn it has a belt on it. The Compressor engages to pre cool the evaporator. Most likely you have a blend door pod leak or leak in the hose or the sampler valve is bad. I would replace the sampling valve behind the glove box/air bag. As that reads the cabin temp and if it thinks the car is cold the heat will stay on because everything is automatic. All vents will blow cold when it thinks its hot and in addition to floor and corner dash center vents will blow cold when it works. If the direction of air is correct then the A/C system may have a leak or need a charge of freon.
