Thank you but the car is wired correctly..When you turn the key, the check engine light should show until the car starts..there is no check engine light..last night I again tried to start the car and alas,,the check engine light was on..the car started and ran but could not hold on for very long..after starting this time, the check engine light refuses to come on again..I tried to reset the EFI fuse but this did not work. Sooooooo the car is still stuck and will not trun maintain a running engine.

Take your battery to the Auto Parts Start and have them test it. Many times running your car battery with a bad alternator can not only burn up your battery, it can also burn up your regulator. Not familiar with this year of cressida, is the regulator a separate unit on either the firewall or mounted on the fender-well? Is was about this time when most Toyo's had their Regulators built into the Alternators. Was your alternator a new alternator, or a rebuilt one? Was the regulator also rebuilt?

You can kill your battery by driving around with no alternator recharging it. You drain it DEAD and it will no longer accept a charge, and you need it to take a charge so can start the engine the next time you want to go to Wal-Mart.

1991 Cressida How do i know if my alternator is bad?

if the alternator is not charging , there will be a red battery light on the dash
reasons for engine stopping are
broken timing belt/chain, cam/crank position sensor failure
immobilizer activation
ignition control module failure
run the fault codes as some engine lights only light up for urgent problems that require you to stop the engine

1989 ford escort turns over but wont start

if all you did was this...and and put a new battery in and still wont start...if you have went thru your plugs..wires..distributor..ignition coil...made sure your getting spark..if not..check your relays and fuses..preferebly one that deals with spark and timing for injectors..if everything is fine to that point...then try a crankshaft position sensor...it tells the pcm timing for fuel injectors and fire to the ignition coil...hopefully this helps.

Hi, I have a 1989 Toyota cressida. It has 100,000 miles on it and it drives wonderfully! Today I went to start the car and the car did not start. Lights and radios came on, but it would not start. I then...

First you will have to get a boost. Something is obviously draining the battery and you will have to find out what it is. The battery may be bad, (7 years old) or it might not be charging,( alternater) or something is draining it when it's shut off, and that could be anything from a light, to the starter.

2003 Honda Accord. Dies when I try to put it in drive

you are having a problem with your alternator. the battery has a main purpose to start the vehicle, keep computer memory, and give power to electrical components when the key is in the on position. the alternator charges the battery and gives power to electrical components when the vehicle is running. now when you hit the brakes there was an extra load added to the alternator and if the car died then the alternator is running very weak and needs to be relace.

91 Cressida won't start

Lead acid batteries can "die" catastrophically. This is actually not all that uncommon. If the battery is new, it should be under warranty. I would take it back, and have them test it. It it fails, which I believe it will, then there is the problem. If it passes, then your alternator is probably bad. The chances of it being your alternator are slim as you did jump the car off, and drive it for a while. If the battery is too weak to start the car, it will not maintain vehicle operation very long without help from the alternator.
