No reverse no egine codes

I say just change the part out..as ,long as its external it should b fine...Im pretty sure it is but I don't know everything bout trannys

Hi, have you checked the fluid level on this ? If the fluid smells burnt and is brownish in color most likely the first and reverse clutch has burned out, or the rear reverse band may need adjusted.

If your fluid is a mid to dark brownish color it may need rebuilt and if it smells burnt also.

The reverse and first gear shift work off the same clutch pack inside the transmission and off the reverse band as well. Also if by chance the reverse band spring is broken or the piston push rod has broken will cause loss of reverse too. The forward gears will still work but may get sluggish and take time to engage over time.

is the tran fluid burned or smell burned
if so change and change filter
check the pan when you change it and see if there is any metal in it
do you get any slipping 2nd to 3rd
if so you have to have a rebuild
make sure they put the upgrades into it also
like new boost valve and sleeve kit to boost pressure
if you have a 4.0 you have a 4r55e tran
if you have the smaller engine you have the 4r44e tran

have you changed your tran fluid
if not check and see if it is burned or has a burned smell to it
have the pan dropped and change fluid first

the clutch may burn out on those gear, check the fluid if it smell burn

Replace the output speed sensor on the front of the tranny. It has two wires going to it. ANd looks like a round plug with a bolt like base on it. It is also white.

Firstly is it slow for reverse, reverse clutch also engages in 3rd gear however reverse has a boosted circuit (more psi) therefore will engage rev but not 3rd but it is a little slow for reverse.
They do have a tendancy to pop a ball out of the High and reverse clutch giving this symptom.

hi . yes you can add a tran cooler.and most cars have them. they are usely in front of the radeater.it would be a good i dear to chang the tran oil . and when you do add louc tran oil trement it will halp with the tran shifting ok.and heating up . good luck

The shift soleniod is the most logical answer or the shifter cable has to be adjsuted.
I do not think the gears are an issiue. Is you fliud clean ? Does the fuild smell burnt or dark in color.
Is there metal shaving in the fluid. ?
If any of the above condition exist then you should take the vehicle in for service .
