Took to repair shop because of the P0700 code to have it diagnosed. Was told that the TCM also had the code P0605, and that was an internal transmission failure. Have not found that code with that discreption (sp) anywhere. It's a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. There were NO signs of any problems before the Check Engine Light came on.
0605 is for an Internal Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error. This is typical of a malfunctioning computer. If the computer is bad, your retrieved codes are probably wrong anyway. May need to replace computer, drive, then see if if your check engine light returns.

DTC P0700: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination
The transmission control module (TCM) uses the (GMLAN) to signal the engine control module (ECM) that the TCM is requesting malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination. This happens when the TCM has determined that a failure affecting emissions has occurred in transmission control system. When the ECM receives the message from the TCM, DTC P0700 will set.
DTC P0700 can not be cleared from the ECM until the related TCM codes have been cleared.
This is something best left to a qualified repair shop , doesn't need to be the dealer ! AMMCO could fix it . This code is telling that other codes are stored in the transmission control module . Need a professional type or factory scan tool to check these . As to how much it will cost , no telling without knowing the codes in the TCM !
P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. Both diagnostic troubhle codes (DTC's) mean the same thing. There are really no testing procedures listed but look at your connectors and wires. Now for the bad news...P0605 & P0700 means there is internal problem with your transmission control module and in 99 percent of the cases it means replacement of the TCM. They do need to be programed afted installation. 2 procedures need to be performed. One is called a pinion factor and the other is called a relearn or quick relearn procedure and they do require the proper diagnostic computer equipment. The TCM is located behind the splash guard on the front left (drivers side wheel. Once you remove the tire and splash guard it is mount to the frame rail and has a 60 pin connector plugged into it. Wish it was better news but hope this helps clearify what the codes mean....
Is this P0605 and P0700? If so read on. P0605 - Control Module Fault Possible causes- ECM/PCM Harness power supply circuit is open or shorted - ECM/PCM Harness ground supply circuit is open or shorted - ECM/PCM may be faulty P0700 CHRYSLER - Transaxle Control System (TCM) Malfunction Possible causes- Shorted or open circuit within transmission control module (TCM) - Failure of transaxle control module Tech notes Since the P0700 is just and informative code, check the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem
P0605-------- Internal control module read only memory (ROM) Error
Have the computor checked.
P0700-------- Transmission control system
Better take it to a transmission shop and have that checked so they can pinpoint the problem.
P0700 indicates the transmission control module has a code in it. That code is P0605 which indicates a TCM internal memory error. While the TCM would probably be the leading suspect you can't rule out other possibilities like corroded connections, etc.
P0700 JEEP - Transaxle Control System Malfunction The transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors
and actuators relating to transaxle control. When the TCM detects a
malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control
Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light.
The ECM stores the P0700 code and it means the TCM detected a
malfunction with the transaxle controls.
Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Driveability problems - Transaxle shifting problems
Possible causes - Shorted or open circuit within transmission control module (TCM) - Failure of transaxle control module
Tech notes: Since the P0700 is just and informative code, check the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem. So you'll
have to have the dealer or another qualified shop/technician pull the transaxle
codes from the TCM and go from there.
P0700 IS A CODE SAYING THAT THERE IS FAULT IN TRANS CONTROLLER..P0605 IS AN INTERNAL ERROR IN TRANS CONTROLLER..ACCORDING TO TEST,TRANS CONTROLLER MUST BE REPLACED
My Nissan caravan has shown the above mentioned error codes
