Chrysler 300m oil light came on while driving and the engine then shut down. the oil light is still on the dash and the car wont start. turns over fine just dont run

Are you SURE that it was Oil Light then Engine Shut off? There is not a ENGINE SHUT OFF if the light comes on that I am aware of and I have worked on quite a few 300's.

I would be trying to start the vehicle by:
Verify Fuel Pressure
Spray Starting Fluid in the Intake and see if it starts then
Are you sure there is Spark?
CRANKSHAFT SENSOR went bad

Hi krh60, I would strongly recommend having the cps (cam positioning sensor) and the css (crank shaft sensor) checked immediately, both can cause your problem and both throw no codes when running, in early stages the vehicle may start again or it may not. Ford also has a cps problem on their 7.3's also see if Chrysler has a recall on these parts you may get lucky hope this helps good luck to you.

Sounds like you need a starter, or you have a loose wire somewhere under the hood.

Oil Light comes on when the Pressure drops below a certain amount. If I was a betting man, I would tell you to test your CRANK SHAFT SENSOR.

2000 300m, car was running fine the all a sudden the oil light came on and the engine shut down. car will turn over but not start. oil light is on on the dash.

Either the oil pressure switch has failed, or you really do have zero oil pressure. The lack of oil pressure can kill the fuel pump to prevent a fire in a wreck.
You may be able to jumper the fuel pump relay to see it it will start, then figure out the oil pressure issue.

My 1999 chrysler 300m always runs great, original owner, the other day I was driving to work and it started to make a clicking noise, then I lost power and the oil light came on, I pulled over, shut it...

WOW, that's a pretty big row to hoe... At this point it could be many things. You'll have to be more specific and utilize the codes the vehicle has to offer. Just turn the key to the ON position and shut it off. Then back to the ON position, and shut it off again. Then ON once more, and look at your trip meter on the dash. It should reveal the "MIL" codes you need to start diagnosing this poor thing.
In the early days the MIL light woiuld flash, but we're now lucky enough to be able to read things like P01400 and such. get the codes and we can go from there! Don't forget to write back!!

What prompted you to change the fuel pump to begin with? Did you check the codes on the dash? Or have someone OBD check it? It could be a crank sensor, but the codes should reveal that. Codes first and work backwards, please.

Lights completley shut off and on even while driving chrysler 300

you need to replace the relay for the headlights located in the fuse box in the engine compartment near the battery. the headlights you see when you shut off the others are likely your day time running lights

SHUTS OFF IN DRIVE...

Hi theoriginalj, have the CPS (cam positioning sensor) and the CSS (crankshaft sensor) checked as soon as possible either one of these has caused a lot of problems for the 300M good luck and hope this helps you. let me know how you make out in the event it may be another problem take care
