You cannot open the trunk. The alarm has disabled your trunk release button. Your only option now is to locate the bolts under the back seat upholstery as shown in the photo, and unbolt the back seat. You will be able to pull up the back rest just enough to reach inside the trunk for the keys.

The solution is to pull out the back seat to get into the trunk. There are two bolts holding the bottom part of back seat (bolts located between bottom and top sections). Then pull out bottom section of back seat and you see the hinge for the top section, remove the bolts and then you can lift up and access the trunk. It's not that hard.

I dropped by dealer shop to make additional key. They charged me $15. Vehicle registration and ID are required to make the additional key. Check out your close local Hyundai dealer. Good luck!

Did you lock BOTH key fobs in the trunk? If so, you'll need to tow/take the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you a key fob needs to be programmed to open the trunk... then, reprogram your original fobs - sorry.. only solution since the rear seat release is in the trunk (which you can't open them from inside the vehicle.).

You can get in the trunk through by removing the back seat - much easier (and cheaper) than going through the dealer.

Thank you, "sfseals10". You save my day. Hyundai should do something about this problem with 2008 Elantras.

This is not a good thing. Ford uses a computer called the GEM and that means General Electronics Module. It controls:

  • Brake Indicator on Cluster
  • DRL - Control
  • Wipers
  • AutoLamps
  • Rear Defrost
  • Interior Lamps(dome)
  • High Beam Indicator only (cluster)
  • Low Coolant indicator
  • Key-in Buzzer
  • Seatbelt indicator only (Cluster)
  • Trunk Pop Relay
  • Power Locks
  • Door Ajar Sensors
  • Door Keyless entry pad
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • One Touch Down (power window)
  • Air Bag Tone
  • Anti Theft (perimeter Alarm) (SEL, or SE(s) with mods)
  • Lift gate ajar (wagon)
  • Liftgate Pop
  • Accessory Delay signal (accessory that work after engine off, prior to door ajar)
  • Battery Saver Relay signal (accessory that work after engine off, 15 mins) Map lights, vanity mirrors

They are located behind the radio in the dash and they are $$$ about 600 USD.

Alarm won't turn off

the valet key doesnt have a transponder chip in it, so it will allow physical turning of keyways and operations, but will not disable the alarm and often wont disable the immobilizer.

sorry to say i think you will need to get an autolocksmith , or main dealer to get you a functioning key with transponder chip mapped to your cars rfid system that will allow alarm to be enabled /disabled

How do i shut my alarm off on my 98 jetta without a remote or where do i look for it otake it out

The key lock on the driver's side door is mechanically linked to a switch that turns the alarm on and off. You don't need a remote. Locking the door with the key turns the alarm on. Unlocking turns it off. I think the remote actually works through the same switch by mechanically locking or unlocking the door.

I've had a problem with mine intermittently setting off a false alarm as soon as the alarm is armed, which is about a minute after locking the door. It seems to be a problem with a switch in the trunk lid, because opening and closing the trunk is the only thing which relates to the problem appearing or not.

So my workaround, if the alarm is screwing up and I'm in a hurry, is to get out and walk around to the passenger side, open the door, press the dashboard door lock control to lock the doors, then close the door. That locks the doors without turning on the alarm system. To get back in I just use the remote or the door key.

1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery disconnected battery now trunk releses are locked and cant access battery. How do you open frt trunk manually

Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.

Electronic lock/unlock not working

Apparently the "LOCK" function is working normally because the burglar alarm is being activated when you 'lock' the car. Is this right?
The fact the engine won't start when the burglar alarm is activated is NORMAL If the doors will not UNLOCK front the driver's door manual switch, I believe you have a bad DOOR UNLOCK relay in the control module.
