It has a lag after switching each gear. it jerks when I let off the accelerator. I recently got an oil change and put some high performance fluid in it after I lost a quart of oil(I have a small oil leak). It's been good and bad ever since. I turn it off and back on again when it acts like this, then It will do it again while driving. and lately it has been dying in 1st gear and idle more than before. Why is this?

sounds like bad clutches in trans...tranny shop needed...takes 4 qts for a filter change and remember to check it when the vehicle is warm and in park running.
SOURCE: ticking noise and low oil pressure
DOES IT HAVE A LOT OF MILES ON IT OR MAY BE THE OIL PUMP IS IS GOING OUT? THERE IS A SPRING IN THE PUMP THAT IS A BYPASS FOR HOW HIGH PSI IT MAY HAVE BROKE THAT WILL GIVE YOU LOW PSI.
SOURCE: gear jerking
when it jerks does the check engine light come on? If so find a reputable transmission shop and it is a simple fix. Costed me $88

Hi,
Thanks for contacting Fixya.com
Poor acceleration is because the engine timing is wrong i.e. the ignition is early or late.
A flashing check engine light means that something serious is wrong with the vehicle and you should not be driving it. Being that the vehicle sputters and jerks under acceleration, it is assumed that you have a failure in your ignition system. Always have the car scanned when your check engine light comes on to obtain diagnosetic computer codes. Most common failure is basic maintenance items, Spark plugs and wires. Simple enough to replace, and relativly cheap. Ignition coils, ignition module, and crankshaft sensor would also cause a severe misfire. again... both pretty simple to change, but these items cost more. Start by having the vehicle checked with a scan tool first.
Aloso check distributor timing and next timing belt depending on year and how many miles on this car you may need to replace the timing belt it can be a cause too.
Let us know if you have something more to know else please accept the suggestion.
Thank You.
