Hi, Sounds like the shift linkage is bent or broken. Have your mechanic check it out. Can not fix yourself. Good luck.

it sounds like you reconnected the linkage in the wrong position so it can still go into the forward gears but there is not enough cable length to allow for reverse and park to be engaged disconnect the linkage again and use trial and error to get it back to where you need it also the linkage should show you where the bolt was that tightened it but if you took it off and then moved either the linkage or the transmission gear selector arm on the transmission now its not in the position it was when you disconnected it resulting in this problem of no access to the other shifter points park reverse and you will have to check all gear shifts till you get it right but if it was in park when you took it off take the linkage off move the trans gear selector to park and reconnect it where the old marks are and you should be O.K.LATER MAN!

sounds like a broken shift cable. (the connection between the shifter and the gearbox) common symptoms are the shifter move easier than normal.and does not move to any gears (not even park or neutral).

you can shift it at transmission by hand to neutral or park and have someone inside start the car and you manually put in gear under hood and drive it to shop or garage, wherever

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

it sounds like your gearshift cable is broken..if you can jack up vehicle and support it safely,get someone to move shifter and look on driver's side of transmission and see if linkage is moving on trans..linkage is up near top of trans..i have seen this problem before

Sounds like the car is just slipping out of gear. Keep your hand on the shifter when you back up next time. See if you can feel the shifter move when the car comes out of gear. If the shifter moves up when it happens keep pressure on the shifter holding it back like you dont want it to move forward. And of course if the shifter moves back when it comes out of gear, put forward pressure on the shifter so it doesnt slip out. This might work for now but but i know i wouldnt want to spen 700 for that ****. Let me know how it goes.
