SOURCE: 1997 GMC Sierra Ignition Switch Replacement

take off the cover on the top and bottom of the steering column just behind the wheel. pop the tilt lever out simply just by grabbing it and give it a good tug. then once you have the new switch and you get in there your going to need an inverted torx socket to remove the small bolts that hold the switch to the column. do not move the gear on the new switch make sure it lines up exactly as the old one did!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: 2000 gmc sierra, blower motoronly works on #4,5

chances are the switch is fine, and its the blower motor resistor. this is a small circuit board inserted in the airbox around the fan area, under the dash on the passenger side, held in by two 7/32" head screws. it is available at any parts store. very common problem.

I have a 2008 gmc sierra 1500 series and it turns on but i can't get it to shut off?

I think I would try a new ignition switch or at least unplug the switch after the engine is running and see if it stops running. When you initiate a start, a series of relays turn on in the powerbox. If the ignition relay is melted inside itself, it will not break connection. You can research and get diagrams, videos, and photos on the Web. Just be specific and enter the year, make, and model and ask for a wiring diagram or fusebox or powerbox for that truck. Then chose from the results.

You should be able to identify the correct relay from the diagrams. Relays are not terribly expensive.

How can i find a wireing diagram for a 2000 gmc sierra 3500

Depending on which diagram you need, some auto parts websites have diagrams you can access after you register with them.
Otherwise you would need to buy a shop manual.

2000 gmc sirra won't start

Well stop looking on forums , most of those people don't have a clue ! Looking at a wiring diagram of the starting electrical circuit for your vehicle ,then testing for B+ voltage an good grounds where they should be is how to find and fix the problem , not guessing an listing to other people on forums . Something that fixes there problem was just lucky guess. By you saying it won't crank i take that to mean that when you turn the key to the start position nothing happens ? Is this correct ? A lot of people get that mixed up with the vehicle won't start a run . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? What a DVOM -digital volt ohmmeter is ? How to use them for testing a electrical circuit .
What size engine does it have ? Is it a 4X4 ? Manual or automatic transmission ?
Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter your vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click starting Click the search button then the blue link. Look at the wiring diagram , a lot of thing's involved . Ignition switch ,park neutral safety switch if it has a automatic transmission , clutch pedal position switch for manual trans , plus the starter motor relay ,starter motor . This is how professional automotive tech's find and fix electrical problems , it takes year's of training to get good . Plus thing's change all the time .

Driver's window

The wiring diagrams for your 2003 GMC Sierra power window circuits are copyrighted material and cannot be posted here. However, I can describe the driver's power window circuit to you.

Battery voltage is provided to the driver's window (master) switch via the ORANGE wire at PIn #2 on the switch connector which comes from the 25 Amp Left Window Circuit breaker located in the fuse block on the left side of the dash.

There is a logic module located inside of the master switch which controls the "Auto Down" feature for the driver's window. When the switch is operated in either the "UP" or "DOWN" position, power and ground is supplied to the window lift motor via the BROWN wire (Pin #1, Connector 2) and the DARK BLUE wire (Pin #3, Connector 2) Thease wires will switch polarity dependin on whether the switch is commanding UP or DOWN.

The schematics show that the ground circuit for the driver's window motor is supplied internally by the driver's window switch module. It is most likely grounded inside the door panel itself - the schematics do not specify. To check for ground, you can test continuity to ground on BOTH the BROWN and the BLUE wires by back-probing them with the switch electrical connector plugged in and the window control switch in the NEUTRAL position. They should both have ground.

When the switch is operated, one will remain ground while the other switches to power.
