Wont manually lock I no longer have the anti theft alarm remote, could this be part of the problem. When pushing lock up or down it wont lock and it seems to change sides. The other day after a time or two of trying I could get the drivers side to lock all doors, now only the passenger side will lock all doors
The locks on your vehicle are electronically controlled by the BCM - body control module . The driver an passenger door switche's are input's to the BCM . Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ? anti theft alarm remote, could this be part of the problem , No it's just a key less entry remote , nothing to do with the anti-theft .
Door Lock System Components
The Power Door Lock System consists of the following components:
• Body control module (BCM)
• Driver door lock switch
• Front passenger door lock switch
• Door lock actuators in each of the doors
• IBCM (PWR) 15-amp fuse
Door Lock System Controls
The Power Door Lock System is controlled by the body control module (BCM) and can be activated by any one of the following:
• A door lock switch Lock or Unlock actuation
• A keyless entry transmitter actuation
• An automatic door lock actuation
• An automatic door unlock actuation
• A last door closed locking (LDCL) actuation
Driver and Passenger Door Unlock Operation w/o Keyless Entry
When the body control module (BCM) detects a transition of either of the door lock switches to the Unlock position, it switches the door lock actuator unlock control circuits to voltage. Since the door lock actuator lock control circuit is at ground potential within the BCM, the driver passenger door lock actuators transition to the Unlock position.
Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop ! Need special tool to diagnose .
Power Door Locks Inoperative
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, observe the door lock switch parameter in the Doors data list.
Does the scan tool display Idle?
YES - Go to Step 4
NO - Go to Step 8
4
Activate the driver door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.
Does the scan tool display Idle?
YES - Go to Step 9
NO - Go to Step 5
5
Activate the front passenger door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.
Does the scan tool display Idle?
YES - Go to Step 9
NO - Go to Step 6
6
With a scan tool, observe the driver door lock actuator command and the passenger door lock actuator command parameters in the Doors data list.
Activate a door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.

Check the fuses first. If that dont work take the door apart the wiers have problably lost the connection due to kids and chocolate.

I had the same problem to the T. I look online for all the same solutions and I can only tell you what worked for me. Actually what I think worked, HAHA! I went out to my truck and unplugged both battery terminals from battery and placed them together to supposedly reset the electrical system, "so I was told." After this for about 20 min or so, I went back out and in this order; re-installed positive terminal followed by negative terminal to battery. After this I checked locks and windows and surprise they worked. I've seen a lot of people say that all they did was wait and they worked later, so maybe it was that and not what I did, but who cares, they work now. Give it a shot and if it works for you, GREAT let me know, I HATE CHEVY CAUSE OF THIS......they wanted me to pay for a stupid diagnostic before they would help me........well screw you I fixed myself. LATER

Look on the door panel for small plastic covers. There should be one or two at the door handle and maybe another closer toward the door hinge. Also, around the perimeter of the door panel, there are some plastic inserts. They are ribbed and are just pressed into holes on the metal door frame. You just pull on the door panel in these areas to get the plastic inserts out. There might be as many as 3-4 at the bottom and a couple on the sides. Where the panel contacts the window, it just slips up. None of this should take too much force, so if you are having to pull really hard and the panel is moving, there must be another screw or something is stuck. Careful not to break your panel. Once inside, see if there is a linkage disconnected. From what you have described, it does sound like something mechanically wrong.

You have a intermittent condition. To isolate the cause: 1.Disconnect the drivers door lock/unlock switch from the connector. Drive the vehicle and see if your random lock/unlock condition has stopped. If it has, replace the switch. If it hasn't:
2. You have a grounding problem or a problem in the BCM (Body Control Module) and should have a technician use a Tech 2 Diagnostic Link Tool to access the BCM computer to obtain any fault code data to help correct the condition.
