95 caddy AC switch wont engage??

Ok..I just picked the car up yesterday and started messing with it today. I tried to get AC to kick on and I could feel cold air at the vents but its not blowing. I hait the fan speed control switch and get nothing. Switch bad? The the digi readout says low on refrigerant and AC compressor off...I am assuming that is to keep it from getting damaged. I tried to add Freon (i know how, where the low side is and all that) but I cant get the system to take any since it wont circulate.

How do I get the compressor to kick on and get it blowing so I can finish diagnosing the system out? Its hot here in AZ and I dont wanna drive in a cadillac miserable because the AC dont work

Thanks for the help!

If you have a low freon warning you will need to unhook the battery to reset the system before the compressor will run.

2010 caravan ac wont work from switch,

You say refrigerant is "full", but it can have too much. If you have attempted to "top off" your refrigerant then you may have too much, keeping the compressor from engaging. If you haven't messed with it and the compressor just stopped engaging on it's own then I would start checking the relay, fuse and the ac switch.

I'm tryin to find out if my a/c compressor is out. So I know that the dealer said that I need it charged and I didn't get it done. So lately it has been makin a loud noise and rattlin on the...

You may be having AC problems but that is not what happened when the Steering locked unless the AC is on the same belt as the Power steering unit. That whining you are hearing when you turn is actually the power steering unit being low on fluid or the power steering pump going out. Based on what you have described my guess is that the unit has gone out and needs to be replaced. As far as the AC compressor is concerned, if the unit is low on Freon it will not engage once it gets too low unless the clutch goes out. When you look at the center of the AC compressor when the engine is running and the AC is off you should see the pulley free spinning and the very center of the pulley won't be spinning, that is the clutch Dis-engaged. When you turn the AC on the Clutch should engage and allow the compressor to work. You will hear it kick in and kick out repeatedly if it is low on Freon. If it is too low it will never kick in because the low pressure switch won't allow it.

No ac, wife left today for 1200 mile drive to Florida with the kids and phoned that the AC was not working on our 2008 Town and Country. Any suggestions would be awesome...

this could be many different problems:
1 could be out of freon.
2 clutch not engaging. (see if a/c compressor kicks in)
3 switch on inside not working. no power going to a/c compressor.
4 bad fuse or relay..

need more info. to really be able to help.... hope this helps....

Gears wont engage on my smart car.

Could be one of two things Dean.
1- The transmission motor could need to be readjusted , and that is easy and always first choice. Under the car look at the transmission on the right hand side you will see a small motor with 3 bolts , loosen the bolts but do not remove , then open the ignition , do not start the car. ignition off and then tighten the bolts. Start the car and check it out. If still the same ... 2- Most probably you have a problem with the clutch and needs to be replaced.
Good luck

Fan quit on 87 celebrity, heat ac, etc.. fuse ok ????

Hi
Check for bad connection at heater resistor or try tapping heater motor lightly
with ignition switch on and heater switch on. Could be heater switch connection.
