With a compression of 150 psi the timing belt will be in the right place so that can be eliminated . you need 3 things to make an engine run they are compression ( which you have plenty of --- fuel you can hear the pump but are you getting pressure in the fuel manifold and lastly spark. So have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold top check for pressure regulator --pump/ filter faults . Next check for spark at a plug lead. Check that the injectors are working . Missing just 1 of the 3 will not run an engine.
Testimonial: "Thanks bill for your help and clarifying on timming belt but im confused on spark plug issue I've removed spark plug and pluged in on spark plug wire and placed on metal ground and cranked engine there is spark presant in lead to ground done all four and as for gas or pressure while cranking I later removed spark plugs and are wet with fuel do you still think its fuel pressure regulater"
with wet p[lugs there is an indication that either the fuel pressure is too high and the injectors are flooding the engine ( Faulty injectors/ control) or the spark is too weak to jump the plug gap under compression. Check coil operation as it may be failing and not firing the mixture under compression. It may be a failing distributor module
Bill thanks for your help on my 2002 nissan xterra you were right about spark not firing under compression replaced distributer with rotor and cap due ignition module built in whole unit but as bad luck as I have been having took the xterra for a spin about 2 miles into my departure at stop light engine stalls once again try to started as it starts engine starts to shake real bad like out of time and stalls towed extra back home check for fuel pressure thinking its fuel pump nope not a fuel issue so I unplugged positive cable to inspect distributer rotor and cap every thing looked okay so put every thing back together and pulled number 1-wire to check for spark put a screw driver in plug wire and set to metal ground on top of engine and asked my daughter to crank it to check for spark as she cranked engine over it started put plug wire back in cylinder #-1 and shut off again I'm thinking it may be the computer memory what do you think it could be now does the 2.4 4cyl 2002 xterra carry a coil seprately or is it built in the distributer thanks for your help ......
The4 module in the distributor is the ignition module and there should be a coil seperate in the engine compartment. I would replace it as it may be failing when iot gets hot. Check the voltage on the coil and check to see if it is a straight 12 volts or a 12volt start and 7.5 volt run. IF it is the later and there is no resistance in the circuit then it will burn out and fail, If it has a resisroe then check the resistance as they can burn and reduce the voltage to below the 7.5 volts needed for the coil to work properly
Thanks for your help Bill ill try that ....
