Take it to another mechanic. He's full of it. If your heater doesn't work the problem isn't with a head gasket. The thermostat on the engine could be stuck open or the heater core may have a restriction in it. If your head gasket was blown, your engine would be overheating and coolant would be dripping out the exhaust pipe along with a white steam cloud that smells like antifreeze

SOURCE: blown head gasket??? 1992 toyota pickup 22Re

sorry i still think its a gasket problem,or water ports---but without bringing it to yard for me to have a look its a bit difficult and iam in spain. These *** motors use a smaller rad cap with two seals in ,so it can draw the coolant back in on cooling, but iam of the opinion that its drawing in a slight water ingression causing the idle problem.Go on give it a birthday and pull the head off and check its level and not warped ,also the water ports are not dissolved to any extent.

SOURCE: blown head gasket .... ran the car hot

sealers usually end up costing you more in the long term than the short term. these sealers react to heat and air. so you end up doing nothing more than plugging up you radiator, water passage ports, water pumps get damaged. causing more over heating problems than they solve. no i would go for what the shop gave you as a quote. that seems a pretty reasonable quote for the position you are in.

SOURCE: Head gasket blown. What is approximate cost to

    Considerations
  1. Many internal engine problems, such as a blown head gasket, cracked head or cracked piston, can be repaired without having to replace an entire engine.
  2. Potential
  3. While taking the time to replace an engine may seem labor-intensive and costly, it will add years to a vehicle's life and will save a car owner from the cost of having to buy a new car.
  4. Benefits
  5. Taking a car to a mechanic and replacing an engine with a used engine can cost between $1,000 to $2,000 for parts and labor.
  6. Solution
  7. Car owners interested in replacing their engines with new ones can expect to pay anywhere between $2,000 to $4,000.
  8. Speculation
  9. For those interested in doing the engine replacement themselves, purchasing specialized tools needed for the job is a cost to consider in addition to the price of a replacement engine.

2001 Saturn L300. New radiator, hoses, thermostat, coolant, reservoir, and it still overheats. It's missing on 2, 4, and 6 cylinders then heats up.

Sounds like bank 2 head gasket is shot. Open radiator cap and start engine. Look for bubbles of combustion gasses coming up in radiator. This will confirm gasket is blown. You can also probably comfirm with a compression test at this point. If you have questions, please let me know.

I have an 03 saturn vue we dained the atifreeze and it had oil in it and its over heating. what do i do?

You have a blown head gasket that will need to be replaced. You are going to have to take everything off the top of the motor, and get the the headers, this also involves removing the exhaust. This is a pretty major job, but someone with good mechanical skills can fix this issue. Unsure what the cost is for the head gaskets, and other gaskets that will need to be replaced during the assembly of the parts.

2003 Saturn L300 Air Conditioner Does Not Blow Cold Air

I worked at saturn dealer for 18yrs.Those auto hvac heads are a weak link on the L-Series.But I have to say the BCM's are totally junk!! But if it was me I would go with the BCM because you can get a used HVAC head from junk yard but the BCM has to be new because it has to be flashed. If It was me I would try to get a used hvac control from salvage yard. Also yo might want to get a 2nd opinion because those L-Series cars are all bad for Compressor concerns.Hope this helps

Oil in the radiator

They lied to you and hadn't repaired the blown head gasket.  Or they did a horrid job.  At most it's a 5 or 6 day job.  You need a new mechanic as I'd never trust this place again.
